I was told by a verizon rep that if i use my droid maxx as a hot spot it would overheat and fail.

That's the first I've heard that...mine doesn't overheat and it hasn't<gulp>failed yet...

how do you use youu phone as a mobile hotspot?????? New to this. Would love to do that. I was told it could not be done.

If you have unlimited data, mobile hotspot is a feature you must sign up for.  Costs about $20/mo, I think.  If you have the new shared data plans, it's included for no additional cost.

It's $30 for the mobile hotspot when you have a 4G phone and the unlimited smartphone data plan.

my phone gets extreme hot but it does not fail.  it uses us my battery life.

that rep is wrong. it WILL get hot, but i have ran hotspot for hours at a time with no issues. my phone did get fairly hot, but never failed, or shut down or anything.
