Hi B33...not sure if you got my earlier reply...I don't see it on the thread, but I was letting you know that I tried to "remove account" on the phone, but was presented with the exact same message "invalid credentials."  It won't let me remove the account to re-load it either.  Also, I hadn't thought to check, but I also have no access to the internet via the browser, nor can I get to the play store, although I have a 4G indicator at the top of the phone and my mobile network settings seem fine.  I also pulled out my jet pack and connected via that wireless network, with the same results on the email issue.  Not sure where to go from here.  If I am getting ICS, would the phone let me know that?  Cuz my current OS shows Droid V 2.3.6

Yup you'll know an you can Check as Well Go to your Setting then Scroll the page all the Way Up till you come to About Phone   Tap on that then you will see System Update Give it a Tap an Will Either a black box with your device is up to Date or the Down load if it's the Download you can Choose to get it or you can Delay it a Bit to give you time to charge your phone things like that but if your Ready and you have a Good Signal Go ahead and get it one other thing you can get the Download Via Wi-Fi if you have a Router.. Good luck there Hope it's in you phone an ready to load..b33 Smiley Happy

Same problem for several days and others have posted the same problem.   I can get Gmail with the Gmail app, but when I open the Email app  it says "Connection Error" " The following error has prevented a successful connection...Incorrect username or password. "  When you type in your password it says "Attention: Invalid credentials"   Same thing happens when you try to remove it.  You have to have a valid password and connection to remove or edit.  ICS isn't causing it unless it has to do with all the updating for that and therefore the email won't connect.  Is a Server out or is the Server over-taxed from updates...I really don't know exactly how all the magic boxes work, but can't seem to get the definitive answer on the forums.

Have been running into the same problems here since Sat, 6/23.  I was able to re-enter my pwd and get Play Store back, but same e-mail issues (gMail, yahoo and Hotmail) as well as hot being able to delete accounts to re-install due to invalid credentials...  Ran fine through Friday, then I tried to send an email and would not send... then Sat day was working fine up until about 4-5pm CST.  Tried various fixes via web about Google settings for POP3 and IMAP, but no luck so far...

Stock gmail email app working fine though... so thought maybe some update for email... uninstalled updates, and... invalid.

OS gingerbread 2.3.6

So you have no internet at all... Do you have wifi somewhere you can connect to? It sounds like possibly the SIM card? You could also try shutting off the phone, pull the SIM car (Make sure you do not touch the gold contacts), and the reinsert it card and turn on the phone.

See if either of those work.

Will doing a factory reset delete the ringtones and apps I have already purchased? Verizon said no but when you go to that option on phone it says it will erase everything.

I know the apps will still be there, you just will have to install them from the market once you setup your gmail account. (Make sure you use the same one that you originally did, otherwise they will not be there.) Once you are in the market, go to MyApps, and do a swipe left, and it should show you all the apps you had installed, both paid and free. As far as ringtones, I have never bought ringtones from Verizon, so I could only assume that they would tell you the truth on that one.

A factory reset will not affect things on your SD card. It basically turns the phone back to what it was like when you first got it. Just remember to backup your contacts if you need to, and there are apps out there to backup your text messages if you want to. The only caveat to a factory reset, it will reset to the last OS that it had installed, so if you were doing it because you got ICS and you wanted to go back to GB, this will not do that.

There is another thread concerning this issue.  I just got my RAZR last Thursday and by Sunday my AOL mail account was froze and kept getting the same error message as others here are listing.  I held out that perhaps I hadn't received the update, but today bit the bullet and called VZ.   I was getting quite annoyed with the repeated notification that I was getting that there was a connection error and the little triangle popping up at the top of my phone.

I spoke with a nice gentleman who said VZ was aware of 'this problem' and was working on it. He suggested trying to add new account, but I told him it wouldn't work for me.  I could not delete my AOL account either.  I could access GMail though.  He then said I could to the factory reset, which he walked me thru.  It did indeed fix my AOL account and I was able to access it.

I had not purchased any apps, but did have to reinstall those few that I had downloaded.  I had purchased a ringtone that I thought would be lost, and called and was told I should be able to access it again, but if not, call and they would credit whatever if I had to download it again.  He was pretty sure it was gone after the factory reset (he couldn't access my account, they were doing a daily update on their system)  Anyway, I was able to find my purchased ringtone again listed in my list of ringtones, so all was well!

So, for me, the factory reset worked.  I would suggest calling support to discuss your specific issue and see what they say.  Hope this helps!
