e mail question

How do you empty the trash in email/  Have many old messagesin there and don'n know how to delete them permenantly.

From the Trash folder, place a check next to the e-mails you want permanently deleted (or choose 'select all' from the menu if you want all of them deleted), then press the trash can

Thanks for the info but I have another dumb question. How do I get to the Trash folder to then delete what is in it?

I have a Bionic, but since both phones are Motorolas with ICS, I would think it's a similar process ... if not, will correct me.

With your e-mail open, click at the top where it says 'inbox'.  Scroll to the bottom for 'show all folders'.  Click 'trash'.
