Actually a good question , perception wise I'd say yes - null & void -  BUT since Google Android Market sells apps for rooted phones as well as apps for rooting phones, thereby I wonder what their legal liability potentially is considering the operating system of these phones is owned and sold/leased by Google . . . .  but rooting is not for everyone  and it is a risky venture

--Budone- <these aps do not use memory the you would use ----- Man are you clueless - or just ignorant  -- yes many supposed apps are just downloaders with an icon  but way too many are actually installed apps that update themselves (downloaders don't)  - they add up to roughly 1 Gig out of the 8 that are on the phone  (250 K actually un-installable if you uninstall and go through files and manually delete remnants--  and just what make you think that space would not be used by apps I actually want to have..    SORRY BUT YOU are the proud owner of the most ignorant response I have seen yet

And to your 'don't use recources -- well they 'update and google books went as far as downoading three new books when I deleted tho old ones thinking - yeah can't delete App but at least I can dump junk  -- so whos broadband (recources) allowance do you think they are using  -  -     man you are soooooooo wroooooong Budoooooone

MrOpinion, my opinion is you aren't reading the mobile version. Your reply to my comment is not immediately after my post.

In the mobile version on my phone, your reply to me is among several of  your ramblings that are one after another. The only way I knew you were replying to me is the "off topic" reference.

Edit:

Out of curiosity, I logged in on my PC and in the full site, your replies are directly after who you are replying. That was my point. The mobile version just posts replies one after another, not directly after the thread a person is replying to.

So, instead of jumping in with a smart arse reply, FYI, you might have also read I was referring to the mobile version.

Droidsw, the mobile version uses a flat format for the posts. Confusing yes. I find that I actually prefer it. You can also switch the PC version of this community to display the posts in a "threaded view" (default) or "flat view". I have switched my login preferences to flat for the posts. I can still tell who replied to whom by reading the "in response to" line above each post. If I have questions about who replied to whom on the mobile version, I plan to switch to the PC version and check the thread again switching as needed to the threaded view when necessary.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

here is a snippit from the customer agreement you agreed to when you got service

http://www.verizonwireless.com/customer-agreement.shtml

My Wireless Device

Your wireless device must comply with Federal Communications Commission regulations, be certified for use on our network, and be compatible with your Service. Please be aware that we may change your wireless device's software, applications or programming remotely, without notice. This could affect your stored data, or how you've programmed or use your wireless device. By activating Service that uses a SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) card, you agree we own the intellectual property and software in the SIM card, that we may change the software or other data in the SIM card remotely and without notice, and we may utilize any capacity in the SIM card for administrative, network, business and/or commercial purposes. If you bought a wireless device for Postpay Service from Verizon Wireless that doesn't use a SIM card, and you want to reprogram it for use with another wireless network, the default programming code is set to "000000" or "123456." But please note that your wireless device may not work with another wireless network, or the other wireless carrier may not accept your wireless device on its network. If you activate a wireless device for Prepaid Service, during the first six (6) months after activation, it can only be used for Prepaid Service. The iPhone 4 is configured to work only with the wireless services of Verizon Wireless and may not work on another carrier's network, even after completion of your contract term.

Ann, I would switch back and forth, like I did with the old format of the forum. However, the full version of the new forum on my phone force-closes my browser (doesn't work).

Otherwise, like before, I would not even bother with the mobile version.

Additionally, this customer agreement is for ALL customers, not just customers who sign a 2yr contract. This is explained in the 1st paragraph of the agreement.

"Thanks for choosing Verizon Wireless. In this Customer Agreement, you'll find important information about your Service, including our ability to make changes to your Service or this agreement's terms, our liability if things don't work as planned and how any disputes between us must be resolved in arbitration or small claims court . If you're signing up for Service for a minimum contract term, you'll also find information about that contract term and what happens if you cancel a line of Service early or don't pay on time, including the possibility of an Early Termination Fee you may owe Verizon Wireless."

If this agreement was ONLY for customers who sign a 2yr agreement, they wouldn't need the part in red.

MrOpinion, if you are concerned about those apps downloading updates without your knowlegde, why don't you turn off automatic update on them?
