Its not even been 24 hours since the system update and I keep finding annoying issues!  I thought it was coincidental but now my phone won't hold a charge!!!!

Since you have the upgrade, I would do a factory reset. I did that with my TB and it did wonders. Nice thing is Google Play will download automatically all the apps you USE to your phone. Not the ones you tried and deleted, but left in the store. So updating is much easier now.

Something simple, have you restarted the phone since the update?

everytime Verizon sends an update, my phone becomes worthless for the next couple of days. I have to reenter contacts that have mysteriously disappeared. settings are all gone. ringtones are gone - often purchased ringtones that the only way I can get them back is to pay AGAIN. applications are gone.

Something Verizon should learn:

Regression testing is any type of software testing that seeks to uncover new software bugs, or regressions, in existing functional and non-functional areas of a system after changes, such as enhancements, patches or configuration changes, have been made to them.

The intent of regression testing is to ensure that a change such as those mentioned above has not introduced new faults. One of the main reasons for regression testing is to determine whether a change in one part of the software affects other parts of the software.

Common methods of regression testing include rerunning previously-completed tests and checking whether program behavior has changed and whether previously-fixed faults have re-emerged. Regression testing can be used to test a system efficiently by systematically selecting the appropriate minimum set of tests needed to adequately cover a particular change.

I would rather see them give you the OPTION of installing the new update, or give you the chance to roll it back to the previous OS version in case it does not work right. You can do all the testing you want, but OS updates, no matter how much they are tested, will work on every single device. This would allow you to keep the phone on the OS that you want and works for you, or would allow you to try the new OS, and roll it back if you don't like it.

It would never work to have 1000's of users on multiple operating systems.  If the operating systems works on 99 percent of phones, but not on 1 percent of phones, something is wrong with the 1 percent and they need to be fixed.  It is usually something the user has done or some apps they have installed.  Usually a factory reset and clearing of the cache will solve the problem.

Battery life is fine now but the other issues persist.  Thank you all.

Testing is already done for updates through soak tests. Hundreds of people get the update first to determine if it breaks anything. If there are no major issues the update is pushed out. Do a factory reset. Easiest thing to do. You shouldn't have to be entering contacts, as those should be synced to your google account.....unless your using verizon software, which isn't the smartest thing to do anyway.
