Re: Why is it that over 60 Complaints have been made to verizon about the razr screen cracking, and there is still no known issue ? Any answers Verizon?

I have had to replace my droid razr about five times due to the screen both cracking and completely shattering due to ranging falls/drops. The most severe drop, which launched the phone from my hand and onto gravel, completely destroyed the screen. The most recent fall happened on a campus elevator. It dropped only two feet and 60% of the screen had cracked from that much of a fall. I'm very disappointed in this "Gorilla glass".

Hi, I found this discussion while looking for corp. #'s. I had called Verizon after I got tired of the cuts on my fingers and palms. I too have cracked screen.I had fallen (disabled, and fall often) the phn did not fall. But had cracks also across screen as discribed by Mrs. H.  Where my hands fit when holding phn. Now a non functioning Razr phn, because phn will not chrg.   I am covered by insurance but I do not feel that I have to pay $99 for new phn. I just got this phn Jan.4,2013. I am w/o phn. I rely on my phn for everything. I did email Motorola after finding this discussion and by typing in Google search Razr cracked screen. There are several complaints. I did not receive response from Motorola by 24 hrs as indicated in my email (auto response)again went to Motorola.com but this time I got response when I put in my email that there were several consumers w/ same issue and I felt that we may have a enough ppl to sue. I immediately go call bk not emailed. Motorola said they could give me discount $50. I refused. I  feel that this is a manufacturers issue. The Motorola rep spoke to Motorola corp. they said that were not responsible!  that there is no problem with the Rasr. She did mention to corp. that the screen was causing small cuts on fingers. I NEED PHN!! Why should pay! If there are so many complaints! why do they not just do recall! I do not want this phn fixed or replaced w/  same phn!

I dont know how to go about finding lawyers or going about lawsuits, but I feel that we do have a problem here. If someone does sue I want to be the !st to sign up!

Thx this helped some, I needed to vent!

If you have a tendency to fall alot, then normal phones are not going to be the best for you. I would have recommended the Casio G'zOne Commando phone. It is made to fall/drop/submersed, etc. My friend got one, and dropped it from his moving car on the road (only about 20mph, but still) The phone worked fine and did not break.

I purchased a case to ensure that my phone did not crack and wouldn't you know...screen won't turn on and the software is acting messed up as a result of one fall (with a protective case).
On top of that, every review I read just goes on about how Verizon will not help or cover anything, short of making you buy an entirely new phone, which I absolutely cannot afford as a college student.

If this is the "quality" of service that Verizon is going to provide, I'm not sure they're worth standing by any longer after being with them for over 6 years. My entire family (7 of us total) all have Verizon phones, but that'll change shortly if Verizon can't provide any kind of service.
I'm the customer and I'll be shopping elsewhere if the company is going to ignore me and my family's needs.

Hey everybody. I'm in the same boat as you all.

I bought my phone a little over a month ago in early February.

My phone didn't keep a charge like they say and it would get hot.  While browsing the net on my phone I went to press on a link and the glass cracked on my phone.  I didn't press hard and I didn't drop it.  Before that I had problems though.  My battery life was less than desired and my phone would get really hot.

Anyway I used the phone for a week or so with a cracked screen. One day I go to pull it out of my pocked and the cracked glass caught my thumb and cut it, and I dropped it. Then my screen fractured.

Ive been with Verizon for 10 years, and I have used Motorola products for the last 5.  I am beginning to think I should make a switch on both.  The salesman at the store told me how tough and rugged this phone was with it's Gorilla Glass and Kevlar. So far my experience is it is an overpriced piece of junk.

Hey bsmith1981!

You've been with us for ten years now and we want to be sure to turn that into ten years more. Of course, I'm terribly sorry to learn about the issue with the screen on your device. Personally, I've got a bad case of butterfingers so I feel your pain. Still, I appreciate the opportunity to address these matters.

Based on your description of things, I'm also very sorry that your phone is a recent purchase and it experienced other problems outside of the cracked screen. May I ask if you have insurance? You can file a claim at http://bit.ly/07CrqPK . Finally, please believe me when I say that we stand by our products and know Motorola has done great with their glass technology. Not only do we not want to lose you as a customer, but we definitely think working on a replacement would be best.

I am very frustrated to read this. I bought my Razr M 6 days ago. Yesterday (day 5), I saw that the glass over the camera screen cracked. The store personnel LIED and said there were no issues with glass cracking and that I must have dropped the phone. I have been a customer for many years, starting with Alltel, but the lack of acknowledgment on this issue really makes me angry now that I have found this on the forum. It incenses me to have to pay another $100 for an insurance claim to get a reconditioned phone for something that now seems to be a product defect. I understand Verizon doesn't make the phone, but I am Verizon's customer, not Motorola's, and I would expect better service after almost 20 years.

I've had my brand spanking new RAZR MAXX for all of 6 days.  I went to bed last night, plugged it in on my nightstand, set the alarm, went to sleep. Everything was looking and working fine. The alarm sounded at it's set time this morning, and before even touching it, I noticed that the screen was 2/3's  obscured by blackness, and the visible backlit area was extremely blue and pink, though I could still read the display in that area.  I found that when the phone is off, and I hold it at just the right angle in the light, I can see a tiny crack in the LCD screen in the upper right corner.  I started searching the web, on my tablet, to find information, and have come across several blogs about this issue. I understand that many people have dropped their phones, even from only a foot or two above the ground, but many others have had the same circumstances as myself, where they had not dropped the phone or abused it in any way.  The crack is not on the outer glass, the Gorilla Glass, but on the inner glass or LCD.   A buddy of mine has had quite the success with a business in repairing cell phones, so I contacted him.  He says that while Motorola used a high quality inner glass (digitizer), that they glued the LCD to that glass using a very cheap type of glue, and that any slight expansion or contraction of that cheap glue, will crack the LCD.   I'm going to call Verizon, and presumably Asurion, today.  I'll update my experience afterwards,  but this is clearly a manufacturing issue, according to my resources, and needs to be remedied by them, at no charge.
