It would be nice if they openly admitted to knowing about this problem rather than trying to suppress it.

Add me to the list. My Razr Maxx screen cracked while charging on the kitchen counter last night. Unless the cat knocked it off, picked it up andplugged it back into the wall charger, it has not been dropped. 7 months old. Never again Verizon, never again Motorola. You've gotten the last dime out of me.

Let me start by saying that I have owned several Droids and seven RAZR'S so I have a lot of experience with the glass screens. The RAZRS kept locking up and I would have to reboot to answer or make a call or any other phone feature. All of the phones had screen protectors and protective cases and they had ALL BEEN DROPPED at one time or the other and the worst thing that would happen would be a small scratch. ALL  of the phones were carried in my back pocket all of the time, and had even sat on it while getting into the car with phone in back pocket. Verizon's Customer Service person suggested that I try the NEW RAZR M and I readily agreed.

I have had the phone for a month and the battey life and features have been great, PLUS you do not have a giant phone in you're hand. Yesterday which was Saturday I went to the Classic Car Auction at Autorama in Houston and spent the day there. This phone also has a screen protector and a protective case, and it spent the day in my back pocket. I answered calls several times and used the browser at least 3 times researching car prices. When I left the auction and got to my car, I took the phone out of my pocket and plugged it into the car charger. The phone rang once on my way home and I had a several minute conversation and plugged the phone back in once the call was completed. When I arrived home I unplugged the phone from the charger and went into the house. I went to make a call and noticed that the screen was yellow, purple and black. I was not sure what happened so I drove over to the Verizon store and they told me that the screen was cracked and asked if I dropped it, and replied no. When I arrived home I went to Asurions web page and filled out a claim. Tonight just for fun I typed in RAZR M broken screen glass and this page appeared. As soon as I complete this sentence I will call Verizon. And to think that I broke it! Laughing they will love hearing from me.

After reading allllllll these comments on glass cracking, I think it is due to the battery swelling. many of you have seen or experienced bloated batteries from over charging or over heating. It is my opinion that this may be causing all the glass cracking.

Here is another instance for the record of the screen easily cracking on a Droid RAZR within 1 day of owning it.  It is now the end of November, and my local Verizon store managers STILL are in denial of this well-documented problem.  I was treated very poorly by both the regular manager, plus this manager's boss.  After almost an hour and 1/2 of waiting and talking with these people, they said to call Verizon Customer Service, which I did, with no action whatsoever.  So now I am stuck with a new broken phone, I need to wait another 2 years to upgrade again, plus I got locked into the lastest plan with a limit of 2G data for $30 when my last plan was unlimited everything.  Grrr . . . live and learn.  As a last resort I did call Motorola Customer Service and will be sending my phone to their repair depot for analysis.  If they determine it was a manufacturig defect in the glass, they will repair it for free.  If they determine that the breakage is due to physical damage, they will not do anything and send the phone back.  This is so frustrating since there are MANY, MANY instances of this defect!  So right now I am at the mercy of Motorola's determination . . . I will wait and see what they say/do.  At least their customer rep was willing to listen and offered me an option--unlike Verizon's so called "managers"  who were very rude and condescending.

I had my phone in my purse, in a protected case, my purse was right next to me. I pulled my phone out of my purse, and there were spiderweb cracks all over it. I took it to my local verizon and was told that even though I got it in February, it was considered physical damage. REALLY??? Like you couldn't tell that from looking at all of the cracks!! I told the man that I had not dropped it, it was fine 2 minutes before when I put up my phone. I am BEYOND frustrated and would really like some help and answers!!!

im adding to this complaint. I picked up my razr off the bed went to plug it in the charger and the whole screen spider cracked right in my hand. it was unreal, i even have the outterbox case on my phone, this phone barely made the 30 day mark. I just lost $400, on this phone. I have to buy all my phones out right, i cant use my free upgrade so i dont lose my unlimited data. this sucks
