Replacement Droid Razr

Hello,

My power button on my droid RAZR (not the MAXX) went heads up - I and the Verizon Store techs were unable to push it in to power it off or anything meaning Verizon is sending me a replacement RAZR.  I am assuming it is coming out with the default OS (2.3.5).  My question is "will I have to update to 2.3.6 and then 4.0.4, or will it go directly to the 4.0.4?"

Any insight would be appreciated.

Thank you,

DarksideSH

Technically you can go directly to ICS, 4.0.4. Are you wanting to go to ICS OTA? I assume the Razr might come with any of the OS's you mentioned, but I don't know for sure. Personally I prefer to load an OS via my laptop...it is quicker and have found it to be less problematic. This is based on several years BB and, recently, Razr experience. Whichever you are more comfortable with, OTA or manually, would work.

It will OTA if it hasn't already or you can D/L it from VZW - post on that very thing yesterday:

Assuming it does not come w/ 4.0.4, I would personally rather just go to 4.0.4 directly. SoccerRef12, you mentioned going to 4.0.4 via your laptop, how do you do that?  If needed, please hit me up directly so we dont get into trouble.  That is not my intent but just to get me up and running as fast as possible.  I'm dead w/out my phone.

That's what the link @ VZW is for - doing it manually from your computer. No rule-breaking involved and it doesn't invaidate warranty.

With that link that Smash Ogre gave, you download the huge (100 MB) ICS ROM and put it on your SD card. If I remember correctly, you can double click on the file and it should install. Can someone else confirm this? I have done some nefarious things to my Razr Maxx and installed it from the leaked ROM, which turned out to be the same as the OTA...I was just too impatient.

I just received a replacement on Tuesday, and it was already pre-loaded with ICS 4.04. I cleaned the cache before I loaded everything up. ( There is a post somewhere on how to do it)  Smash, B33, Ann, among other members here, have been very knowledgeable and helpful with this transition to ICS. Thanks to all. Freddie.

Good to hear Freddie. How's the CLN replacement doing?

It is working like a charm, except a noticeable drop in the signal based on where I am. I think we are all suffering from that and hope for some update soon for it. ICS was not too friendly for the Gnex either . We all are doing better than those who own the nexxus overall. Maxx is an animal of a machine if everyone discovers what it is able to do.....voice recognition and typing in so many different languages, global, etc..

Once you've installed a bunch of apps you might clear your cache again and also there is a method by which VZW can sort of re-provision your SIMM card, had posted something on that recently. Might help with the radio(s).
It IS a best of a phone! I'm starting to get kinda drooly over the Razr HD though, that camera and screen look sweet!
