I just upgraded from a Thunderbolt to the Razr Maxx HD.
With the Thunderbolt, I never had any reception problems, but with the Razr, in my office, I only have one bar, and I miss a lot of calls. There have been several times my wife has called, but it never rang my phone; texts seem to come through, so she's had to resort to texting me.
I've tried a new sim card; that didn't help. Data seems to be fine - it's just cell reception that seems to be poorer than with the TB.
Is this a common issue with the Razr phones?

Wow, seems that the Maxx HD isn't the only thing giving me poor reception!
I withdraw the original question, as I switched to a Note II.

You asked if poor reception was a common issue with the Razr phones, the silence probably means that it is not a problem. I can tell you I get excellent reception on my Razr Maxx HD, even in the center of our old brick building where most of my co-workers get only marginal reception.
Good luck with your new Note II.
