Pinstripe effect across the screen?

I had my first DROID MAXX replaced for a faulty earpeice and while the replacement has a louder earpiece, the screen has an annoying pinstripe pattern that appears/fades/reappears; it's especially noticeable on solid white and gray backgrounds. My first MAXX didn't have this issue.  Verizon is sending me another replacement, but I'm curious how common this issue is.

Fortunately it's not that type of pinstripe (I've seen that on friends' phones as the LCD's age). The best way to describe the pattern is this; In gradient backgrounds, there are shaded pixel groups that form lined edges where the color transitions. In this case, the grouped lines run across the entire screen on solid color images as well. I ran a screen test app, and it appears heavily with white, gray and green. Considering the RGB "stripe", my guess is that one of the colors is off slightly causing that color "stripe" to appear dull, hence the pinstripe effect. I could be wrong but given the purple hue of the screen, I'm guessing green could be the weak one. It's clearly a manufacturer defect,
