I have this EXACT issue - and can't (without great expense!) upgrade until next year. I miss having all my contacts in one spot - wonder if I can uninstall KitKat? I mean, what has 4.4.2 really done for our Razr M's?

I'm sure there's a checkbox somewhere to integrate your Facebook folks into your contacts. Found it! Go into your Facebook app and go to the Settings (all the way at the bottom). Choose the " Sync Contacts" The pick the appropriate sync option.
And...there's no way to back out of KitKat (easily)

Hey RushFan2112,
Thanks for your message, you whippersnapper, you!
So, with fingers crossed, I took your advice you shared below. See pics: I went to “Settings” followed by “App Settings”, and "Sync Photos”= yep. But “Sync Contacts” I made sure I didn’t have a Facebook app update awaiting my approval, so now I’m humming “oh where, oh where can my contacts be . . .” Any advice? I mean, that “sync photos” isn’t the magic thing I need to agree to, in order to get the contacts to follow, is it? I assumed it would sync any picture I took with my camera and would post it?! So I said no.

I found Sync Photos, but you want Sync Contacts...it's ALL the way of the bottom of the App Settings.

Dear RushFan 2112,
You’re so sweet!
I know you’re doing your best to help, without making me feel like an imbecile.
Let’s do this - as I tap on my phone, I’m going to type what I see on each line.
Like you, I VERY much want to see those two precious words “sync contacts”, so let’s find out where I’m veering off course.
Here we go! (if it helps to solve this, I’m including in red what my current settings are)
Tap Facebook app
I’m at my news feed screen, etc.
Tap 3 horizontal lines on top far right/second row
There’s my profile picture, my name. Under my picture, the first sub section reads “Favorites"
Next section “Apps”
Next section “Groups”
Next section “Feeds”
Next section “Pages"
Next section “Help & Settings”
Tap “App Settings”
Top of screen shows the Facebook f in a blue square and the word “Settings” next to it.
First sub section "General Settings”
And the following are listed (and my current settings in red)
Facebook chat Off when using Messenger
Refresh Interval 30 minutes
Messenger location services Off by default in conversations
Sync Photos Don’t sync my photos
Video Auto-play Off
Language Device Language
Second sub section reads “Notification Settings”
The only item under this reads:
Notifications Inactive
Third main section reads “Chat Heads”
The only item (which is very light in color) reads:
Messenger settings
And trust me when I saw this, RushFan 2112, we are at the bottom of the screen. Really, I am at the end, no more screen to scroll, Zilch.
Hopefully, you can understand my frustration. If the KitKat update really has removed a user’s previous ability to merge their “People” contacts with their “Facebook" contacts, this is one disappointed Droid owner.
Any advice would be helpful. Thanks again!

CookieChick, I have the same issue. There is no sync option at the bottom. I think the issue may not be Kit Kat however. Facebook is forcing people to download the Facebook Messenger app to use its instant messaging. I finally succumbed and that's when I realized that the sync contacts functionality had moved to that app. Not sure how well it works yet, but it says it is syncing.
I'll report back when I see how its working. It didn't create a new account in my Android settings and the Facebook icon there is still dead. Still, it looks like sync is now on within Facebook Messenger, so I have my fingers crossed.
It is way annoying that Facebook is making people download another app just to use their messaging, which worked fine in the main app to being with.
