i have been having multiple issues with this droid razr since i purchased it 5 months ago.  i hate it.  now it deleted a batch of texts from a friend that i really need, is there any way retrieve and recover them, as i need them for information  they contain?  I need to trade this turkey back.

thanks,

How did "it" delete the text messages? If you are using the standard messaging app that came with the phone, then the answer is "no". There are, however, other apps in the Market that will back up your text messages to your Google account every so often. That is about the only way I know of to do it automatically.

Did you get the phone with Gingerbread, or did it come with Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS)? If it came to you with Gingerbread, and you did the ICS update, then I would suggest a factory reset to try and fix the problems. Please make sure you back things up before you do the reset. This will put the phone in a clean state running ICS, and then you will have to load your apps and contacts, etc back to the phone.

In the stock Text Message app there is a "Message limit" setting, by default it is set to 200 per conversation (that means per person if you just keep adding texts to the same conversation and don't start a new conversation every now and then).  I don't know what happens if you hit 201 messages.  Possibly older ones are deleted.  There are apps in the Google Play Store that will allow you to back up and restore text messages, e.g. SMS Backup & Restore.  Won't help you now, but for future consideration.

This is what i would suggest Messages have a Limit if using the stock Messaging, You might Try K-9 also in For future Testing as it from what i heard has More Options.. b33
