Just Did The ICS Update

Well, I did the update. Took about an hour from start to finish. At this point in time, I have no idea if I will run into the type of problems I've seen many write about here in the forum. We'll see soon enough in the next few hours and over the next few days. Based on my readings here, I made several pre-update preparations:

     1) Made sure my battery was fully charged, then kept the charger on, not sure how long the process would take.

     2) Made sure I had maximum 3G bars, which is most of the time for me, anyway.

     3) Changed my Live Wallpaper back to the Razr default wallpaper.

     4) Cleared phone cache according to instructions found here in the forum.

Once, I was ready to begin, I began the download, which took about 20-30 minutes. Then the install. I let the update do its thing without interefence from me. When it was complete, and I received the "update successful" message, the phone was in process of installing other app updates. So far, things look good. Widgets on the home page work fine. Texting works fine. Facebook works fine. There is still other tests to make which will be done in the course of the next few hours or so. I'll update my report here, if I can do that.

Just wanted to post a positive report as I've seen so many negative ones. I'm hopeful it will remain so.

Yes, I'm glad, too, considering the many here who've had real problems. I'm hopeful that the way I did it is what made it almost entirely problem free. So far, the only issue I've come across was that of Comcast Email and I was able to fix that easily enough and left instructions on how I did that. The only other thing I'm watching now is the battery. Tomorrow or day after will tell me more. Smiley Happy

I updated one of my Maxx's the i haven't Yet the only issue i have encountered and Posted on here is the Issue when i Go to the Browser And do a Voice Search it Capitalizes the first Letter like the word android central is done like this Android central and when it does this it will show the result of it then 2 seconds later it removes it off the Screen and to get it to Work i either have to say the Word again or i have to wipe the Word and start over again. I done all that was required to clear, Change settings to no avail but two things that did work was when i used the Sype keyboard and when i used a third party app.! witch i use Smart Keyboard it worked As it's supposed to. I think if the search app was updated it might take care of it but i might have to F.D.R it. Too fix it..

Glad to see someone take their time, let others do the update, and do it as a process. OS updates are something that should not be taken lightly.

It is nice to see someone do their homework. I did mine pretty early on, but I was prepared to have to what it took to fix the phone. My wife's phone, however, I did after a week or so, AFTER I went through the process, showed her the differences, and saw what issues there were out there.

I've had mine for better than a week now, and have countered no problems. Have fun with the new OS.

where does this process start?  I didn't realize what was going on and now 15 hours later I can't get into my phone and it is still downloading something. I'm locked out except for emergency calls.

You better make sure your data signal is good, it sounds like you have an iff'y signal? Also make sure your phone is plugged into the wall to charge.

+1 D.U. what D.U said is Correct you need a Very Good signal to Achieve a Good Load of the Update or if you can get a Good signal Via the Network then Switch to Wi-Fi if you have it...

Yeah, I've read your post on that. As I've never used the voice feature, even pre-ICS, I would have nothing to compare it too. Voice isn't that important to me....yet. Who knows? When I do decide to try it, my attitude on it could change.
