ICS problems

After upgrading to the 4.0 operating system (ICS) in noticed several problems. My email stopped working and I had to change account port and security settings. Using voice commands to set the alarm appeared to set the alarm but did not. To set the alarm using voice commands you must open the alarm application, open the new alarm, and select OK. After selecting OK a clock symbol appears in the system tray at the top of the screen. Several widgets and other user interface were changed, apparently without any improvement or reason for the change. This kind of purposeless user interface change does nothing more than waste users time.

I did notice one problem that was resolved by the system upgrade. The search function in the "People" application actually performs a search in 4.0.

Overall I would give the ICS release a failing grade and would recommend against upgrading until Motorola fixes the release.

How did you change your account port and security settings to get email to start working again?  what did you change the settings to?

Under "Email>Settings>(account name)>Incoming Settings" I may have had to change the "Port", and I did have to change the "Security Type" to none as prescribed by my internet provider. Under "Outgoing settings" I changed the "Port", "Security type", "Required sign-in", to the setting prescribed by my internet provider. I also had to add a "Username" and "Password". The email setup directions provided by my internet provider for a DROID phone did not indicate the need to add the username and password to the outgoing server settings. Adding the username and password was necessary to make email work under the 4.0 system update (ICS). All of this information was available in the previous operating system and should have been ported over as part of the update to 4.0

I am in agreement. Ice Cream Sandwich is melting on the road !!! I have had nothing but problems since the upgrade. I have done my best to tell anyone who has a Razr or Razr Maxx not to update to ICS because it <Keep it clean!>. Since the upgrade the phone has horrible reception, apps open and close on there own, you have no control over individual sounds for phone ringtone, text ringtone, and notification ringtone. Don't bother calling Verizon because they blame Google and don't call Motorola because they are doing there best to fix the problems. This was the best phone I have ever owned when it was running GingerBread but now it's a $300 paper weight. And before I get the same comment about not understanding new things explain to me why I now get horrible reception and apps open and close on there own when the phone is just sitting on a desk. Please, explain this to me like I am 5 years old.  Yes, I have done a factory reset and that did nothing but cause me the headache of having to download any aftermarket apps.

*****After being a Verizon customer, since Verizon became Verizon, I have never been treated in the matter in which I was treated throughout this nightmare.

Please save your sanity, DO NOT UPDATE TO ICE CREAM SANDWICH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have terminated my contact within the forum and have no intention of ever joining any conversation on it again. Please do not contact me again. If you do I will consider it to be harassing communication.

Well you might want to change your communication preferences under your profile so you don't get any more email automatically sent to your email.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

I changed that setting when I advised you I had terminated my contact with the forum and had no intention of ever joining another conversation again. I believe the wording of your initial email was to "keep it clean" because this was a family oriented forum. I respected your opinion and request when I informed you I had terminated my contact with the forum and had no intention of ever joining another conversation again. Your initial email was sent directly to me so I replied directly to you, not the forum. I can now only assume, since I respected your opinion and request, you blatantly ignored my request and your subsequent email's intention was strictly for the purpose of harassment.

I respected your opinion even if my opinion is the language on prime time television, which is supposed to be family oriented, makes my language seem truly trivial. I did not argue with you nor voice my opinion. I did not object when I reported abuse because I was offended by something written in a reply to one of my posts. I was told it was a general statement and not directed at me however, my opinion was it was a direct insult to me and it's intention was purely to be demeaning. I've been cordial and polite in this email but apparently I'm going to have to be a little more direct.

Any further communication from you, Ann154, no matter the content or the intended purpose of said communication, will be considered, by me, as being sent for the soul purpose of harassment.

I've respected your request by terminating all communication with the forum now please respect mine.

ICS won't help much b/c it is only a reporting system. They don't guarantee investigation and if they do, it will take a long time. I have tried that route. I tried trace call and police. I even paid $14.95 to track call but don't help either. After charging me $14.95, the company displayed data that are the same as what appeared on Google search, but they can make further research upon payment of $79.99! I immediately cancelled the service for a refund. This is what happened.

<Email address deleted> sent me a total of 786 harassment **emails** since 6/2/2012. The contents are most absurd, vulgar, and psychologically disturbing because she(he) used foul language to talk about, among other things, drug addiction, spiritual terrorist attacks, satanists, illuminati, and crystal meth. I have to use Google search for the meaning of the latter three. These were preceded with 917 similar emails sent from <Email address deleted> between 5/3/2011-4/22/2012. The sender claimed to be a female nurse in her late 40's. I contacted local police last year with the <Email address deleted> emails, but was declined investigation because they lack the resources to investigate all reported cases, and these emails were not serious enough due to the fact that she(he) did not threaten death. The <Email address deleted> messages in June were coincided with one or two "private calls" during weekdays, after I picked up and said 'Hello', the caller hung up after 20 seconds of silence. When I placed a trace call at a cost, the operator said the call was successfully traced but I have to contact the local police for the identity. However, I was told to file a complaint first before they can look up the number! I only want to find out who the person is, and ask why she(he) wrote those "hatred" emails? I don't intend to press criminal charges to ruin another person's life. At that juncture, the police told me explicitly that there is nothing they can do for me unless I file a harassment complaint.
