I have upgraded to ICS but now my phone turns the screen on and off every 30 seconds

As I stated in the title, I will tap the power button to turn off the screen and set it down but my screen will turn on and off every 30 seconds. I have preformed a factory reset and this has not fixed the problem.

I am not receiving texts or notifications to cause this to happen.

Also I am wondering if this is because I lose connectivity very often although I live in the town where I was getting excellent signal before the update.

Try this Put your Phone in Safe Mode and See if it's Still Acting this Way..  One other you can Do is if you haven't when you Razr is Acting in this Way is Performing a Soft Reset.. But First Try Safe Mode and See if Stops the Issue.!  if it Does stop the Issue While in Safe Mode then you a Have a Rogue Third Party App...

Here's How to Put the Device into Safe Mode:  The Instructions

Safe mode is a method that allows the device to run without non-essential applications. This is beneficial for troubleshooting 3rd party applications.

Enable Safe mode

  1. Power the device off.
Note Press and hold the Power button then select Power off.
    Power button
  2. Power the device on.
Note Press and momentarily hold the Power button.
  3. When the Motorola Dual Core screen appears, simultaneously press and hold Volume Up / Down keys.
    Safe mode
  4. Continue to hold the Volume Up / Down keys until Safe mode appears in the lower left.
    Safe mode

Disable Safe mode

  1. Power the device off.
Note Press and hold the Power button then select Power off.
  2. Power the device on.
    Note Press the Power button.

One thing that I found was that the upgrade automatically puts the phone into Global network mode.  Which in addition to sucking battery power also seems to make the connection to Verizon intermittent.  The solution is to go into settings and change the connection to LTE/CDMA.

To do this:

1) Go to settings

2) Click on More.. under the Wireless and network section

3) Click on Mobile Networks

4) Click on Network Mode and select LTE/CDMA

I did that immediately after the update trying to find the CDMA only mode.

Will since it's still acting in the matter you described it's time to take it to the Store and show them what it's doing explain what you have tried before and after what i suggested. In short they will probably have to Flash the Device if this does not Work they will deem it unworkable and get you another one. But Hopefully they can straighten it out for you.. Good luck

Thank you for the help. I went to the store and they swapped SIM cards on it to test that as possibly being the problem. It did not fix it and I have elected to get a free replacement. The only problem is that I am in the middle of a move so I will have to wait until I get a fixxed address for Motorola to ship to.

How long have you had the RAZR? The reason I ask, they will probably send you a "Certified Like New" device.
