How can I set MP3 songs as my text message ringtone for the Razr M?

I got the MP3 songs to work as a phone ringtone by creating a folder called "ringtones" in my files app, but I can't seem to get MP3 songs for text messaging ringtones. I tried press and holding the name of the song and waited for a pop up options menu, but it does not give the option to set as a ringtone. I have also tried going to the options menu to see if something would pop up, but I didn't see one.

You should create a folder called "Notifications" on your internal memory and copy/paste the mp3 files you want as text message tones there. The phone will see them and add them to the notification list. In the text message application, you can then select the notification tone for all text messages. If you "need" individual text message tones for each contact, you will have to look at a third party application to provide that functionality.

I believe the ringtone for text messages is the "Notification" tone, and cannot be set the way a phone call ringtone can be customized.

The notifications tone is used for more than just text messaging, correct?
