How can I get a new device?
jadesaturn1984

Hello,

I am totally frustrated. I purchased the droid razr maxx as my upgrade and was NOT notified that the phone had a battery that could not be changed or that I should buy insurance on this phone for this exact reason. Well now it will not hold the charge any longer and because of the very noticeable signs of ware on the phone it is not eligible for a manufacturers replacement phone. Now I am using a used cell phone that is the worst phone ever. I need someone to push through my account for an early upgrade or replacement of my phone.I spend almost $300/month with Verizon between all of the services I have because of the excellent reception. At his point if no one can do anything for me I will keep this phone until my contract runs out and then go with another provider for all of my services. I would like to stay with Verizon and considering how much of my hard earned money goes to Verizon I don't think its too much to ask for an early upgrade just this one time. Thanks

It's not exactly Verizon's job to inform you of those things nor could they have known there are "issues" with the battery and should recommend phone insurance.. I've had my droid razr maxx for almost two years and the battery is fine. Now since you said your manufacturers warranty is out because of your excessive ware, you could simply replace the battery...it's not that hard and it's much cheaper then paying for a new phone. Upgrade or no upgrade.

If you have any luck getting someone.... anyone, to PUSH THROUGH your account for an early upgrade, I'm sure many thousands of Verizon customers would be extremely grateful when you inform them with whom and how you accomplished this feat.  I spend almost $400 per month with Verizon. So if you can get Verizon to concede you an early upgrade when you ONLY spend $300 per month, I would like to hear how you did it.

Best of luck and let us know how you do.

It is actually very simple. You call Motorola and get a number and address to send your phone in to them. They will replace the battery in the phone and send it back to you. It costs just around $50 to have it done which is about the same cost as a removable battery. The only down side to it is you will be without your phone for a week or so, so you should have a backup to put on the line to use while it is gone.  The phone will be returned to you and work just like new.

I can understand your frustrations, jadesaturn1984. I'll do all I can to help. We certainly don't want to lose you. Was insurance offered at the time of your purchase? Have you previously carried insurance on your devices?

What type of wear and tear do you have on your phone? Basic wear and tear does not prevent you from using the manufacturers warranty. Is the display cracked or damaged? Please provide me with a few more details.
