Headset Jack issues with my droid razr

The 3.5 mm  jack on my Razr is loose.  I tried to see if this is a known issue, but didn't find anything pertaining to my particular problem on the forums as it works but is loose.  The only post I found the jack didn't work at all.

The problem is that when I have the phone connected to my car radio via a cord, if I go over a bump or turn or even stop suddenly, and the phone moves even a tiny bit, the jack moves and the program will pause.  If I am listening to music while walking with the phone (I usually have it attached to my pants) the same thing will happen if I even just touch the cord.  It's not my headset as I can plug it into my computer speakers and have no problems.  Also when I have the headset plugged in and I get a phone call, the other person hears a clicking noise.  My mother finally told me about it after several phone calls where she couldn't hear half of what I was saying!

I took the phone to a store (since I pay for the replacement plan and the phone was not even a month old at the time) and was told by the very bitchy CSRs (well one was really nice but she had to go to the other ones, and they were first mean to her then wouldn't listen to what I was saying).  They tried it out with one of their single earphone headsets which worked ok.   Eventually I just gave up and left as they couldn't seem to understand that MY MUSIC was being constantly stopped.  When I called customer service they said they could replace the phone, but I wanted to see if this was a known issue with the phone (and so any replacement phone would have the same issue).

I found my way to these forums and discovered that if I get a replacement phone it would be a REFURBISHED one.  So.....continue to have to turn my music or audible books back on after they get paused by the slightest movement of the phone or run the risk of getting a piece of shit refurbished phone as a replacement?

Anyone else have the same issue with the jack?  Did you get a decent replacement?  Was it worth the time and trouble to replace it?

While I do not have a RAZR, I did have a similar problem with my BlackBerry Bold.  The headphone jack was not working so I had the phone replaced with a refurbished handset. I have not had any problems with the refurbished phone since I received it over a year ago.

It is your decision whether you are willing to take the risk of getting a refurbished phone for the reward of having a working headphone jack. I would recommend taking that risk and getting the replacement.

Good luck.

I am having the same issue, First of all I put my headphones in and the Icon doesnt appear anymore.  If I turn my headphones plug at all while listening, my music pauses.  I have had many issues with my RAZR, not happy with it at all.  Got the same issue, they tried to replace it with a Refurbished one. May just have to try and sell it.  Smiley Sad

If your having issues with your phone then by all means have it replaced with a refurb. If you get a refurb that has issues then have that one replaced. Not all refurb phones were faulty. Some are customer returns that didn`t suit them and even the faulty ones are checked for issues. There are problems that may arise with a refurb that wasn`t caught in the repair process but i`d have to believe that testing them is a top priority. Sending out faulty phones knowing the customer will be dissatisfied is a costly process for the vendor. I just received a certified like new device monday after the headphone jack stopped working on my original droid X that i bought on release day back in june of 2010. It was replaced free of charge because i pay for the extended warranty. The new replacement phone looked new in every way but i noticed what appeared to be a minor defect in the display and called customer support today and there sending another phone again free of charge. It`s your phone....If your not satisfied with the way its performing then by all means get it replaced if it`s possible. My advice when dealing with Verizon customer support includes 3 steps. 1. Be polite. 2. Be firm. 3. The most important step is BE POLITE. Remember you are just one of nearly 90 million customers Verizon serves.

Did you have the Cord that was attached to the Razr in a position were it was a little loose or was it tight ? if it's breaking up at the Jack it there could be a Break in the Module it's in.  The Camera, Earphone Jack an External Speaker are all part of this Module on top

When you have like your headphones attached an i would do this Gently can you move the jack around if So i would say it has broke a way from the Board..

You can See in this Picture's the Earphone Jack, Rear Camera, an the Speaker in the Combined Module..

Guess I should have updated this when I replaced the phone.  I got a refurbished one back which was just like new, and had no problems with it.  Jack on this one works fine.  I should have done the switch immediately as it was painless and problem free (they sent the 2nd phone to me and I had 5 days to send the old one back.  A rep helped me get my data transferred over.)  Now if only I could get rid of NFL mobile app since I loathe and despise football and I hate to have it staring me in the face when I'm looking for an app.

Not to get side tracked.. but how is it no one ever knows what their warranty covers? In fact verizon is doing you a favor with sending you out a "refurb". Your warranty with moto is really a repair warranty. You send you phone off they fix it and send it back, if they cant fix it they will send you a NEW phone

Verizon gets a lot of slack in this forum, I truely dont understand how people dont know what they are signing up for

I had a similar issue.  There is an app that will alleviate the problem, so that the phone can be used.  It is called SoundAbout.
