Everyone seems to be talking about the Jelly Bean update, however when I check for an update, it says my phone is up to date. Why is this?

It seems like every other RAZR Maxx has an update but mine.  What the heck? lol

The Jelly Bean update was pushed to some phones Christmas Eve; it apparently was by accident, since Motorola and Verizon have yet to provide an official release date, and no more updates have been pushed.

it went through on my formerly perfectly working Droid Razor Maxx then was unable to connect to home router and others in various locations. Tech support performed a factory reset - oh, you know what fun that was - lost apps....had stored contacts and thankfully text messages. Tech support great, but evidently software push damaged phone since it had other error message issues as well so now have factory certified one. Now contacts have loaded strangely!  Want to know how to wipe old phone before returning.

Bummer, hate to hear that.  Remove your SD card from your old phone, then do a factory reset.  Remove the SIM card before returning the phone.  You also may want to review some of the threads on this forum about issues when returning phones ... it may be worth the money to pay for the shipping and ensure you have a tracking number and/or to insure the phone to avoid a headache later.

Thanks - also went to verizon.com and put in factory reset of droid razor maxx....did it.... I was told I was in the first 10K beta group and full release would be later this month. When I first called I was the first to have this issue and by the time of the third call, evidently there were many. Motorola has some work to do...liked the other aspects of Jelly Bean....reading text messages while in auto mode, etc. but not hooking up with all routers was not good for my business use.

Kudos to tech support: Brett, Andrew, Trevor and John who took a personal interest in my abject frustration. I did not ask for this update - did not agree to it - when I saw the phone screen on Christmas Eve with a house full of guests it was in a count down mode and got to go before I could grab phone....none of these issues was requested or agreed upon and it took over 6 hours of my time in queue and with tech support to resolve....they better not charge me for return of phone. Thanks for the heads up though.

Cassidy... Glad the FDR worked for you. I too received the update, not realizing what it was I accepted. Phone never was the same again. Bluetooth glitchy, Nav Dock inop, and Gmail wouldn't send. Talked with tech they recommended a reset which I reluctantly did. Fortunately i have everything twice backed up through Google and pc. Data reset worked for a short time. Was in and out of coverage yesterday, on and off wi-fi. Phone eventually quit connecting to any source, and when I tried power down & restart it was dead. We've a great Verizon store in town and they too had no luck with any method of restart. Now there's a new phone on the way. However... After reading in other threads re replacement...

Does Verizon always send out a refurbished for a replacement? My Maxx is only five months old and a refurbished one in exchange doesn't seem quite right. I didn't break it, drop it, water damage it, or anything else. I accepted Verizon's update and that broke my phone.

The replacement will be a refurbished device. Your five month old phone is also considered "used" as well.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

Same with mine - got in May. Says it is Factory Certified - factory tested

but never used. Claimed not a full charge yet it was 95% charged...what can

you  do - other models were lesser in quality and features..interesting

that you had  option to take update - I did not. My email accounts were not

receiving. Didn't  try nav doc...Hope this one will be better.

I'd have no disagreement with a refurb if the malfunction is user caused. That's why I carry insurance. In this instance the malfunction is entirely carrier caused. I spoke with the rep at the store that issued the replacement, they believe the  it will be a brand new phone. I'll wait and see what's delivered. Thanks for your input.
