Droid Turbo 2 - Bluetooth "Disabled"

I realize I'm probably beating a dead horse - but I'm on my 5th Turbo-2 now, all purchased because I haven't been able to break the screen.  Every other cell phone I buy - about every 6 months gets a new screen. That's annoying and expensive.

The current one is an eBay special - a new-old-stock one supposedly. It appeared and worked just fine when I got it about 2-3 months ago.  Bluetooth connected fine to anything I needed it to. Life was good. I had all my favorite apps and data on it - and it was purring along, the battery actually lasts an entire day of intermittent use, and it turbo-charges in about 20 minutes.

So about 5 days ago - I started having problems connecting to the Bluetooth in my cars - both of them.  After a lot of poking around - the car end was fine - could connect to other phones without an issue. The phone end was not.

If I do a hardware diagnosis - using the Motorola tool - it tells me that Bluetooth is "Disabled".  To me that implies something isn't allowing it to run. If I go to the hardware test section - and ask it to test Bluetooth - it tells me it isn't on and asked if I want to turn it on. It then sits there for infinity (apparently no time out in the program) with a message "Turning Bluetooth on.." - but it never does.

Looking at lots of forums it appears this wasn't an uncommon occurrence back when D-2's were popular - and the accepted "cures" were to (1) Clear the phones cache and reboot - didn't work for me...  (2) Reset defaults on all apps - with the thought that Google Play file/app scanner was turning off Bluetooth somehow - and blowing out the cache would fix it.  Maybe it did for some people - it did nothing for me.

I finally reset the phone back to factory settings and reloaded my profile. Bluetooth is still disabled.

Any ideas?  I have a choice of this phone - which aside from Bluetooth seems to work fine, and the one it replaced which has about a 2 hour battery life now - but Bluetooth seems to be able to be turned on.

I have to admit - this is a disappointment.

I haven't had a phone screen break in the past 10+ years..What does the Verizon community forums have to do with an eBay purchased phone? Seems your choice is to get a refund through eBay and buy a different phone.

Well, good for you.

I thought since the phone is marked Verizon this might be the place to come, especially since the forum is called "DROID" and it's a VERIZON Droid-2 Turbo.

I had hope that one of the more experienced members here had encountered this problem - since it is written up - but never really solved in many Droid (an Razr) forums.  But I guess that's a forlorn hope.

Your reply was unhelpful at best and insulting at worst...  guess I'll go over to the Motorola forums - they may make cruddy phones, but at least their customers try to help one another.

I am a consumer too and I would be lost if I was not able to connect to my Bluetooth devices, deilenberger. I understand that you did not buy this device from Verizon and our options to assist you are limited, but we want to make every effort to help. We must check all the basics to ensure that we do not miss anything importance. Can you share a screenshot of the device showing the System version as per this link (https://www.verizon.com/support/knowledge-base-181029/)?

Is your phone rooted?

Try this again..  OK - this time it worked.  Note that on the IP/MAC/SN addresses all of them are purposely missing the last 2 digits. A bit of security - but not too serious.

The phone isn't rooted.  It strangely has started working intermittently. It sometimes will turn Bluetooth on, other times it fails to respond.  I've eliminated all extraneous apps that could possibly interfere, and looked through the remaining apps to make sure none of them controlled Bluetooth.

Any ideas would be great!

Never mind. System re-logged me in and I sent a PM.

Yes - I reset it to factory twice so far (frustating since it takes most of a day getting everything back where I want it, and all the accounts logged into.)

It made no difference.  Going into Safe Mode makes no difference.

It seems to be almost totally random. Yesterday Bluetooth turned on by itself when it saw my car Bluetooth, and stayed on most of the day. Then Bluetooth shut itself off - and couldn't be opened again. Multiple reboots, clearing caches, a factory reset, nothing seemed to help.

The "DISABLED" status seems like a hint that some security setting is causing this behavior - but I've tried changing anything remotely connected to Bluetooth and can't make it "Enabled"..

Thanks!
