yes, i had to accept it. and i did wait 24 hours before i did... not because i thought it would make a difference, but because the first time i saw the os upgrade i was busy with the phone.  silly naive me for trusting this update from verizon or motorola, having been a loyal customer of both companies for years.  this is my first smart phone, and when i bought it in april, i loved it - it was so intuitive!  now it is a piece of junk with apparent 'downgrades'  - bad wireless reception, emails not on a google server timing out, camera zoom doesn't work right, goofy NON intuitive new interface with poor touch sensors and hard to read fonts, can't access some videos, suddenly fuzzy camera photos, shorter battery life ..... if i would have known that this kind of junk was being pushed out, i never would have accepted this update. and, having motorola (now google) offer no solution for this mess, AND hanging up on my twice, you can bet i will never buy another motorola phone again. i will also be paying more attention to at&t next time around.

Again @smartsite I ask: Have you tried to fix your phone with the cache wipe and/or an FDR?

I agree, either doing the cache wipe, or doing the Factory Reset could help with your issues. The cache wipe will not affect anything on the phone, everything should be there afterwards. The Factory Reset will remove EVERYTHING from the phone, and will be like you just got it from Verizon with ICS on it. You will have to set it up all over again, so make sure your contacts are backed up either by Google or Verizon's backup. There are apps out there if you wanted to back up your text messages also.

i did wipe out my cache in various places on the phone, having learned how from reading countless comments from various disgruntled users in different web forums (shall i list some?)    i did not see a lot of improvement.   and neither solution you propose returns the much better interface of gingerbread.  i know you are trying to help, but bottom line, i hate this phone now. it is not what i signed a 2 year contract for, and had i known i never would have.   as far as i'm concerned you guys took the best phone on the market and made it one of the worst, and i think verizon and google (motorola) should take that to heart.

Is this 1 of the processes that you did? It wipes the phone cache partition.

Shut phone off

Hold Volume Up,Volumn Down, and Power Button until Boot Node menu appears.

Volumn down to RECOVER

Select RECOVER option by hitting the VOLUMN UP button, the phone reboots into Recover mode.

When Android figure is shown with red exclamation point on it, hit both the Volumn up and volumn down buttons for menu.

Scroll down using the Volume up/down button to Wipe Cache Partition and select with power button

Yellow text will appear on the left side towards the bottom to let you know the status. Once it says it is complete, scroll down with the volume up/down buttons to Reboot phone and select with power button

Phone should reboot normal.

Hey there Smartsite i know your upset. I got that way with my Droid Incredible on one of the Gingerbread updates things weren't like they were in the Previous build and to me it was a piece throwing Material or could've made for a good paper weight.  But with Talking to guys here on the Site Like Wildman, Geri O ,Tidbits, Demmo, Bear and Cody. It was the Best Therapy i could get as it made the time waiting for the the Update that eventually fixed it to were i was plumb Happy again go by rather Quickly.

All i'm Saying is Hang in there with all Hands tight. A new maintenance update shouldn't be to Far off and hopefully i'll say it will address some of these dreaded issues..b33

NO solution listed here will return GB. It doesn't sound like you have enough proficiency with an Android device to go elsewhere and find other methods. The two methods I and many others have listed on these forums have worked for many many people. They do not involve "wiping cache in various placed" only the Dalvik cache which you cannot get to from inside the OS. Perhaps you could re-read one of the many posts on the subject, try it, then maybe spare all of us your constant vitriol? It does get a bit, tiring.

When i first got my maxx it was on gb and had a few  data and hotspot issues . I updated to ics and have had no issues what so ever. I got to say this is the best phone and os that ive ever had and do believe its about the best available right now.  My friend has the exact same phone and has had nothing but problems. Turned out the problems were really him not knowing what he was doing or changing settings he didnt know why he was changing. He started reading this board along with other android boards and low and behold his problems vanished.Im sure there are people with legitimate complaints but if moto and verizon sold that much junk everyone would be using something else. It is amazing at what a cache wipe and fdr can fix.          Jesse

The first phone I had completely froze and none of the buttons worked.  I had not downloaded any apps or added anything.  I only had it about a week or so.

Yesterday I tried to put a pause on the voice mail password so I wouldn't have to enter my password everytime I called voicemail and the phone would not save the change.  Even after I did the factory reset today with Verizon on the phone, it still would not save the change.  I could still use the phone, however I would have to put my password in each time and when I used the bluetooth feature through my new car stereo.  It's supposed to be an easy change and I followed the directions, however it didn't work.

I can't say that I have ran into any of those issues.  It may be because I have not tried those features.  Other than a few problems with some of the apps my biggest complaints are: crappy camera, crappy video and poor battery life.  If I trade up for a Maxx the battery life issue will go away.  That's a big plus for me.  The video quality is not really that important to me but I wished the camera was a little better.  Overall I am quite happy with the phone.  Hope things work out for you.
