Can't connect to my home wifi

Just switched to Verizon from AT&T, and I am having some problems.

I am trying to access my home wifi, and my Razr maxx won't connect!  I am able to connect with my other devices without any problems.  Here's what happens when I try to connect:

It says "Obtaining IP address..."

Then, after a while, it says:

"Remembered, secured with WPA/WPA2PSK"

almost immediately after, it says:

"Disabled,secured with WPA/WPA2PSK"

Then the phone scans for available networks, and tells me that Wi-Fi networks are available!

I have all the settings set up according to all the other posts here...  Wi-Fi on, CDMA/LTE enabled, Wi-Fi checked, Notify Me checked, Open Network checked, Secure network checked...

What am I missing/doing wrong????

If it's a SECURE connection, you must enter your Router-assigned Password the 1st time you connect. If you did that once and entered it incorrectly, I believe it stores that bad password. That's maybe what you're seeing.

What you have to do is click on "FORGET" and then rescan WiFi access points and CONNECT to it again - it SHOULD pop up a box prompting for the password.

Thanks for the quick reply Cody,

I have my router page up on my desktop, and re-tried entering the password to no avail...  It DOES pop up a box prompting for the password, but the same thing I originally posted happens Smiley Sad.  If the wrong password is entered, "Obtaining IP address..." doesn't show.

Any more ideas?

I've had that issue ever since I had my Droid X when Gingerbread updated to version 2.3. Even when I got the Razr the issue persisted. My wife had a Galaxy Nexus for awhile running ICS and it would'nt coonect either...neither does her new Razr Maxx on 2.3, I could never get anytwhere with Verizon or Motorola on resolving this issue other than something was up with my router. I don't accept that since EVERYTHING else I own, my Blue Ray player, Laptop, XBox360, etc connect and work just fine. I've tried using WEP and WPA both on my router and equipment and the only way that I have ever gotten the phone to connect is to drop the security and run the network "open" which I refuse to do. I've tried doing resets...still no connection. None of the newer versions of Gingerbread or ICS have worked out of the box.

It has to be something with how Android connects wirelessly through the network that changed.- my router is fine.

It might be you have to many things Connected to It. Power off your other Equipment an then try to Connect the Razr and Razr Maxx. And sometimes Routers Need to Be Updated.!

Actually the other equipment is powered off unless it's being used.

Everything else works find with the router, I don't see why the phone

shoudn't. It worked fine until the 2.3 update. The XBox 360 and BlueRay

player are both less than a year old and they work great. 802.11

a,b,g,n are alll supposed to have standardised settings and protocols.

It looks to me like Android varied from the standard in some way,

especially since my stepson's laptop and IPhone hook up on my wireless

equipmet fine when he is here...the only thing that doesnt work is

Android devices.

You are not doing anything with MAC filtering, are you? I forget from time to time that I have that turned on, and after spending a half hour or so troubleshooting why it won't work, I remember about that....

  Just a thought.

Another thought is to update the firmware on your wireless AP or router? What is the date of the firmware?

In my case I tried both with and without MAC filtering using the phones MAC Address. It's an old Microsoft MN700 router so it's no longer supported. However like I said before everything else I have works fine...its just the Android phones. All my electronic toys are all less than a year old and they work perfectly on that router and there were no issues setting them up  to work, so I dont see this as a router issue, its an Android issue.

My reply to the original poster wasn't to steal his request for help, I was hoping someone would offer him a solution that I havent seen before or tried. I gave up on the issue long ago. I'm not going to buy a new router because Google or Motorola wants to do something non-standard with how they access wireless services. And I would have to assume it's Google since I had the same issue with a Samsung device running ICS.

Just a thought.........Have you tried to connect with someone else's router?  If that works then perhaps there is a compatibility issue with your router.  Grasping at straws here.  Good luck.
