your task Manager (in the included apps)  as well as manage apps in the menu will tell you this info -- putting apps that don't need to run in the background - which is most - except maybe navigate - onto the auto-end-list in the task manager and having a timeout for your screen will shut those powerusers down more frequently and automatically - I go 20 - 40 hrs  , but then use it for phone, msg, e-mail, field necessary browsing (at home it's the PC), maps and not for games and music (thats what they make other toys for)

Haha! That's great, Nonna!  I like your attitude!

This is my first Android device and I had to keep reminding myself to use the Menu button when I couldn't find what I was expecting!  But I really like it now that I've had a bit of time to adjust.

@MrOpinion,   I agree a portable battery charger is a nice option.  There are a number of different models depending on your needs out there.  I also have a charger in my car.  But unless I'm streaming a lot I don't find battery life to be a problem.  I routinely go 12 hrs and even then am only down to 35-40% with a fair bit of use.  Not a big fan of task killers for the reasons in this article, but if what you're doing works for you that's all that matters.

This is my first Droid and was discourage by the battery life also.  My son downloaded "Easy Battery Saver+Task Killer".  Now I get close to twice the battery life compared to before.

Interesting article. & reasonably logical with a twist where I head off. For one I am not using a task killer and while many apps just sit dormant others such a camera do not. But my thing isnt so much the apps themselves but the external recources they may be - and i may totaly be wrong- keeping active. WI-FI. GPS. BROADBAND BLUETOOTH. and I kind of based that on people constantly telling me how I should turn these off as the kill battery. And I was thinking no app no GPS. and I have gone 48hrs till cut of - so figgured must be workin. usually its 24 w - like you. 30% remaining. only used backup bat once and that was on my dumb-phone just so the backup got cycled. havent needed it on Razr yet

just got the razr.it came with about 70% battery.i killed it in about 3 hours just trying to set up the phone.i let it drain almost completely like recommended then got juice defender.the second day with heavy use (no games just setting up) i got 8 hours and battery down to 20%.i also notice that the new update 6.2 i believe, has lessen the battery use of my screen display which was using 65% of the battery before the update, then 32 after the update.now am not sure if juice defender did that or the update.i will keep draining the battery to almost 0 to keep improving it.also i got my razr in costco and it was 259 and it came with a back up rechargeable battery that last 4 hours and a hdmi out cable.also i get 90 days to exchange for another phone with out a restocking fee.

I'm glad your battery life is improving.  I think the update helped some, but JD is probably responsible for the biggest increase.  Easy to test it by disabling JD and seeing.

I would not run your battery down like that.  It does not improve Lithium Ion batteries - it actually hurts  them.  FoxKat has written much about it as has the Battery University site.  They do not have memory like the old type batteries and their life is shortened by high heat, so frequent smaller charges are actually better.
