Adding email???

I just got my razr maxx yesterday, and I cannot add my personal email to it. It says the email or password is incorrect. Why is that?

Usually when a computer or phone says that your password is incorrect it's because the password you are entering is not the one it has on record as the correct password. i.e. incorrect.  Actually your Maxx is not saying your password is incorrect, but your email program is telling your Maxx that the password you are entering is incorrect and your Maxx is forwarding that message to you.

What I would suggest is go into your email program and change your password.  Then go into you email program again and change the password back to what you had it originally.  Alot of "rig-a-ma-roll" I know, but the only other option I can think of is to go into your email program and hit the "forgotten pasword" button. It will send you a temp password and then reset it to what you want it to be.

If anyone else has a better idea, please post it.

Best of luck to you getting your email on your Maxx.

I had to change the security settings in my email to "accept all certificates" after the ICS upgrade in order to receive email.

Sometimes if you have an issue Like this if you Hit the Home button then do a Soft Reset and then one the Phone is Powered Up then go through the Sequence again it will. I had to do this when i added my Yahoo Account and it worked on the Second Try.b33Smiley Happy

It all depends on what email provider you are trying to access, they all have their own settings. Some will be able to automatically get setup, others will need to be setup manually. If you cannot get it to work and you continue to get the invalid password, it could be a few things, and I would suggest talking to whoever is the provider.

Can you tell us what email you are trying to setup? (Yahoo, RoadRunner, GoDaddy, etc)

Do you have the email settings available to look at on a PC or something else? Each place has it's own settings.

Here is the info from Verizon:

Mail server settings

  • Incoming mail server (POP3😞 incoming.verizon.net
  • Incoming Server Port Numbers: 995
  • Outgoing mail server (SMTP😞 outgoing.verizon.net
  • Outgoing Server Port Numbers: 465  Why is this important?
  • Your Verizon Online user name
  • Your Verizon Online password
  • Make sure "This server requires a secure connection (SSL)" is checked.

See if this helps.
