Adding Photo to a Contact on Droid Razr M

Went to add a photo to a contact and the gallery is gone. Didn't have this issue earlier. The gallery is still on the phone, but now it won't come up to add a photo to a contact. All that shows up is a folder called Files. HELP?

Create a new contact

  1. Touch 
  2. Touch People
  3. Touch
  4. Choose an account to store new contact then touch OK.
  5. Add all the information you want to store for new contact in the appropriate fields.
  6. Touch Save at the top of the screen.

Add recent calls to contacts

  1. From the Home screen, touch 
  2. Touch Recent.
  3. Scroll to the number you want to add to contacts.
  4. Touch and hold the number.
  5. Touch Add to contacts
  6. Select Existing to add number to existing contact or New to create a new contact.
  7. If the number is a new contact you will be prompted to choose an account to create the contact under.
  8. Add all the information you want to store for this contact in the appropriate fields.
  9. Touch Save at the top of the screen.

Edit a contact

  1. Touch Apps   
  2. Touch People
  3. Locate and touch the contact you would like to edit.
  4. Touch Menu  
  5. Touch Edit
  6. Make your changes.
  7. Touch Save at the top of the screen.

View contact

  1. Touch Apps    
  2. Touch People
  3. Press and hold the contact that you would like to view and tap View Contact .

Delete a contact

  1. Touch Apps 
  2. Touch People
  3. Touch and hold on the contact.
  4. Touch Delete contact .
  5. Touch OK to confirm.

Note: This can be done with multiple contacts at one time.Add picture to a Contact

  1. Touch Apps    
  2. Touch People
  3. Locate and touch the contact you would like to edit.
  4. Touch Menu
  5. Touch Edit
  6. Touch the image icon located on the top right corner.
  7. Make your selection
  8. Touch Save.

Create a new contact group

  1. Touch Apps
  2. Touch People
  3. Touch Groups at the top of the screen
  4. Touch New Group  at the bottom right of the screen.
  5. A prompt will come up asking which account you want to create the group under. Select an account and then touch OK.
  6. Enter the group name and then the name of a person you want in the group.
  7. The name of the person you entered will show up below.
  8. Keep entering names of contacts and they will be added to the group list below.

    Note: An X will appear next to each name in the list. Touch the X if you want to remove these names from the list before you save the group.    9. Touch Save at the top of the screen.

Delete a group

  1. Touch Apps  
  2. Touch People
  3. Select and touch Groups at the top of the screen.
  4. Touch the group name you wish to delete. 
  5. Touch Menu
  6. Touch OK to confirm.

    Note: When you delete a group, the contacts themselves will not be deleted.

Sort contacts

  1. Touch Apps 
  2. Touch People
  3. Touch Menu
  4. Touch Settings
  5. Touch Display options.
  • Sort list by: sort by first or last name.
  • View contact names as: view contacts as first name or last name first.

Set an individual ringtone for a contactYou can assign a custom ringtone for each of your contacts.

  1. Touch Apps
  2. Touch People
  3. For the contact you want to set a ringtone; touch and hold for the contact name until it is highlighted.
  4. Touch  at the bottom left of the screen.
  5. Touch Menu 
  6. Touch Set Ringtone and select the ringtone to use.

To switch back to the default ringtone; Follow steps 1 thru 6 > Default ringtone.

People Menu OptionsWithin your People Menu you will have other options to help manage and share your contacts such as,Contacts to display, Import/export, Accounts, and Share contacts.Notes:

  • Exporting contacts to the SIM card does not currently save the contacts. You can export and save contacts to the SD card.
  • If you have multiple SIM cards, you will need to power cycle the device for all the SIM contacts to be visible.
  • Under Settings you can see Display options and Contact storage, which allows you to choose which account new contacts will be saved to.

Unable to view contacts within the Navigation appIf you're unable to view your contacts within the Nagivation application, try updating your Google maps application. Touch Apps > Play Store > Menu > My apps and select maps to update to the latest version.


Choose which contacts to display.


Q: I have several accounts set up in my phone. How do I choose which contacts to display for the account i have set up such as Facebook, Corporate/Enterprise, Gmail/Google etc..? A: From the home screen, touch Apps > People, touch Menu  > Contacts to display. Under Contacts to display, select the account which contacts the contact you wish to display or not display.


My contacts on Corp Sync account Stopped Syncing after I updated the phone software to 6.12.173If you experience the issue with the contact sync after the update, please follow the steps below:

  1. Touch Apps
  2. Touch Settings
  3. Under Accounts, select the Corporate account, touch Account settings > select and touch account being modified
  4. Scroll down to Sync contacts and UNCHECK the check box.
  5. Go to your Corp Sync email account and touch it.
  6. On the Sync screen touch Contacts to sync.
  7. Power Cycle the device and repeat the steps above by CHECKING the Sync contacts check box.

Try doing this Run the Phone through a ( System Cache Clear )  Followed by a Power Cycle (( press Power + Lower Volume Bar  Hold for 20 to 30 Sec. Let the phone re-power up then try setting up the Picture with the Contact..

Go to Apps > All > Files

Select it and scroll down to "Launch By Default" and touch "Clear defaults"

Do the same for Gallery and Phone if anything is set as a default.
