And based on my recent experiences with VZW (non)customer service that is exactly the response you can expect from VZW! They just dont give a rats {word filter avoidance}

Verizon actually treats people better than most places. Its like your job. You quit cause so and so treats you bad, or a bad boss, or just plain {word filter avoidance}
. Things are the same in a consumer market. Same crap, Different people. I have actually had the best customer care with Verizon than Sprint:smileymad:, ATT, And Tmobile put together! Thing is a lot, Not all, But a lot of Verizon CS actually are smart and read through people {word filter avoidance}
better than others. Like today while I was at a Verizon store to buy a accessory, A guy came in yelling his car charger was not working right and wanted to return it, yet it did not have the Verizon symbol but he swore to the lady it was Verizon who mailed it to him. Come on, We not dumb here! But anyways Im rambling, Moral of story, Grass is not always greener on the other side!! You get what you pay for!

I promise, no word filter avoidance issues here....:smileyvery-happy:

I have friends all over the country and in those spots where AT&T is having the most trouble with iPhone (actually, ALL of their phones) connectivity issues. In spite of all their hype and talk about increased capacity and improved connectivity, those friends (that haven't left for Verizon or Heaven forbid, Sprint) are reporting more connectivity issues than ever. They can hardly make a call, get a call, or keep a call that finally connected from dropping.

So run along and get that new iPhone. I, for one, have learned the fine art of being patient and waiting for the next Android update, although I'll admit that it seems as through Verizon's approach to updates does have a "glacial" quality to it.

But hey, at least I can make and receive phone calls. And that is worth something, I tell ya...

Ahhhhhhh, gerio, how is the Android operating system working out for you on that Samsung Ominia?

Exactly, even though the original post references jumping ship to another carrier, the title of this forum is Android Devices and his (or her) post's intent was to point out that a. There is a 2.2 upgrade on the way and b. That if VZW drags their heels on the upgrade he (or she) will not be a happy camper.

Slow day in the Samsung forums?

Android is open source, if you are so concerned then download the code, back up your phones data, root your phone, and install the new Android 2.2 Froyo.

Then learn some coding if you don't know already and troubleshoot your devices new found bugs since you didn't have patience for someone else to do it that actually knows what they're doing. Another option is to wait for someone else to root 2.2 on your device and use their 2.2 ROM.

http://www.blogsdna.com/8946/how-to-root-your-motorola-droid-running-2-1.htm

(this is instructions to root to 2.1, I didn't provide this link to have you do it, I just wanted you to see the steps to get it done. Sorry couldn't find the 2.2 Root files & instructions for Droid.... guess you will have to... well... be patient)

Note that you will most likley lose tech support for doing such a thing but hey that is why you created your back-up.

Verizon is again rated #1 in customer service, and I can say that I have never had a problem with them. If someone doesn't want to wait for the update to come out, or at least a rootable version, then the iPhone may be for them. Then Steve Jobs can tell them what they can and cannot have, and have dropped calls like crazy. And yes, I was with AT&T before Verizon, so I know about dropped calls.

Ahh, Gainsville, Grasshoppa, you are cute, but not in ways you might think...

It is YOU who isn't keeping up with things. I chunked the Samsung because of the obvious ad nauseum reasons that are not news. I bought a Moto Droid this week. So what?

And even if I had an old Newton (bet you don't remember what that was), what's it to you if I comment one way or the other? Who do I have to be to make the point, Mother Theresa? The Pope?? The point is the same. His "intent" was yet another slam at Verizon because they don't suit his idea of what their timetable should be.

Now go dream about that new iPhone. And do it quietly. Mom's upstairs taking a nap.

@gerio Since development of the Newton OS platform start somewhere around 1987 and ended in '97 and was incorporated into many different devices I can't be sure which one you are referring to. A Newton device manufactured by Sharp, Motorola, or Apple? Give me a little more information (i.e  MessagePad or eMate300) and I may be able to  tell you if I "remember" .
