Are you asking this question because the Droid X only works with a 64 bit OS or because it doesn't work with a 64 bit OS?

The reason I'm asking is because I've been using my Dinosaur 32 bit XP OS that I bought in 2002 and just bought a new Alienware desktop replacement laptop with Win7 64 bit OS.  Do I need to keep my old XP limping along as long as I want to use my Droid X?

Thanks for any and all insight,

I have the very same problem. I have a 64 bit Toshiba and it's frustrating. I find that if you shut your Droid off, plug it into your laptop, then turn it back on, the link between the two will be made. At least this works for me, and you might give it a try. I'm ready to go back to a 32 bit desktop.

Just restart device, this happens from time to time, mine usually does it after I use my car dock and then place it on my house dock, I think my issue is because I am using a app to disable the crazy dock magnet trigger when device is placed in fock.

We use both, 32 bit and 64. So far the Vcast offering from Verizon only works on 32 bit. Motorola offers a sync option that works on both systems. Your X will work on both...
