found it on another forum through google. it is strange that nobody here is reporting this problem, as it appears a known issue with the x. it seems the head phone jack is the cause of it. pressure from head phones, even those without buttons, can cause shorting and make the x think the user is pushing buttons, or even speaking into a mic that is not even present.

so far the only known fix is to used a widget to block headphone inputs(free on market) and that has worked thus far but is essentialy a band-aid fix for poor connections in the jack.

still love my x,

thanks to all for the help.

What are you using to listen to the music?  It sounds like an app or something is activating your voice command menu.

I've never heard of voice command launching out of the blue. Are you using a headset and hitting the wrong button while listening to music?

go into the settings and see if you have voice command set as the feature for a double tap of the home screen i figured this out when i had some freezing issues and hit buttons to try and get the phone to respond then voice command would start but i think its actually the default. not sure if this still works on 2.3 not seeing the option anymore but worth a try looking if you havent updated yet.

I had this issue with my first DroidX. I ended up getting it replaced, this one has been fine.

Good morning, callforfire!

Thanks for all the help from the community members!

If you have determined this happens with a wired headset and when you press down on it in the headset jack, it likely is a hardware related issue. Please PM me your name and mobile number so I may look into this further with you. Please include a best time to reach you as well.

Thank you!
