I had the backup assistant on my glyde but I cant seem to get my contacts onto my new Incredible. I tried to sync from the website and got a weird message on my phone. It looked like a link but it didnt say where the message originated from, so not even sure if its related.

on your incredible go to settings-->accounts and sync-->back up assistant.

You need to run the Backup Assistant app from your Incredible -- not the web site. The app should be in the Market if it isn't pre-installed on your phone. You enter your PIN when prompted and your contacts should be restored.
