Will droid 2 ever be able to receive smileys instead of the symbols and will any updates ever have the lock screen like the older phones with android systems?

I receive smileys just fine.

Not sure what you mean about the lock screen, this is my first Android device.

I have found the smileys need to be sent to your phone typed in as Smiley Happy for it to show as :smileyhappy: .  When they are typed : ) they come to me just how it is typed.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

well there is a screen lock option on the droid 2 (not the global) i have the droid 2 that came out before that one. go to settings>location & security>scroll down to security and there you will see screen lock you can choose what type of password you would like be it pattern, pin or password. next you will have to set how long you want your phone to wait after the screen goes to sleep before it locks your phone. scroll down a little to security lock timer and your all set.
