when i try toturn my phone up it freezes up

Hi aa71, 

I apologize for the delayed response as I understand the inconvenience of not having your phone turn on!  Did this happen after installing any new applications?  Here is a link to instructions for putting the phone in Safe Mode to see if the device will start up.  http://support.verizonwireless.com/clc/devices/knowledge_base.html?id=42081  Please keep me posted on the status as I would be glad to help further if needed.
