my e-mails won't send

Hi,  My e-mails won't send.  When this has happened in the past, I've just shut down my Droid X all the way for a moment or two and then re-started it.  Well now that's not working.  I have new e-mails that I've created for a few weeks that haven't sent.  Can anybody help?  They are just sitting in the outbox.  BTW - i can receive no problem.

Sound like you might have the wrong SMTP port number. Go to this site and it has a complete list of all the Email servers (or pretty close to all of them) and check your SMTP port number.

I would try 1st going into Settings / Applications  - running APPS ... scroll down to your email APP & select it. Force Close/Stop it. Then select CLEAR CACHE/DATA ..  (you will likely lose any of those "stuck" emails and also have to re-enter your Login info when you re-launch it).  You didn't mention WHICH email App you're using. If using a 3rd party APP, I would Uninstall it first and then reinstall it.

 

If that doesn't work, I'd try the Wipe/Clear Cache procedure at Power up of the phone:

 

 Wiping cache partition

 

  • Power off
  • Power On Holding Home Key
  • When Andy with Exlamation Point Shows up Press BOTH Volume keys
  • Use Volume Keys to navigate to "wipe cache partition" and tap power button to select
  • Wait for it to finish and select reboot system

 

If none of this works, it may be time to do a Factory reset --  but that would be the extreme situation. Hopefully the aforementioned will solve your problem.

if it's cox, road runner, etc pop3 mail, you've got the wrong smtp/send server address, check with the email provider for correct address, generally can be done online.

 

i use cox and correct info was found on their site.

thanks for that clarification on the port number, i forgot to mention it.

that site's worthless. what they claim for cox, doesn't work, so i would imagine others are suspect too.

that's why the isp's website will have the real deal.

Sorry to disagree with you. Maybe Cox is out of wack, but there are three on that list, which I use, which are correct.
