magnet in case turns on droid x, disables pin

i have a hip case with a magnetic flap.  i got the case from verizon and it has their logo stamped on it.  however, the magnet not only turns on my x, but it also disables the PIN!!!  so what good is a pin if any magnet can turn it off? 

does any one have a solution?  thanks.

The magnet in the case triggers the dock app that auto autivates when placed in dock, there is a sensor on device that does this when placed near tigger, The only fix is replace case with a none magnet case or try "Dock Nothingness" from market.

I would return the case to Verizon and get one made specifically for the Droid X.

After dealing with this issue the last two months and not knowing why my DX was turning on and bypassing my pin screen while in  the case, found out this past weekend that it could be the magnet. What has seemed to help is turning the screen away from the magnet by facing the screen in while in the case. Seems to be working.

If ur referring to the leather case w/ the Verizon logo on the front lower (R) crnr of the flap, that's the same one I bought on launch day when I bought my X. I haven't a single issue w/ it activating the docking circuit. If it is that case it shouldn't be doing that, & sounds like an issue w/ the shielding for the magnet, take it back & exchange it. If it isn't that case go back & get that one. Hope this helped u.

Well this has been a issue reported on a number of forums, some chose to remove the magnet but if its still covered and you can return it I would just do that and try a diffrernt one.  That dock app is a pain anyway, I wish they added a optiion to disable it but that would make things to simple

Thanks to everyone for all of the good advice.  But I have a deeper concern about the magnet disabling the PIN.  In other words, if someone has a magnet and places it in the right place by the back side of the X, they can open the phone regardless of whether it is locked with a PIN.  This means the phone cannot be secured.  That is a concern for me.

that does work but I use my phone as my music player at the gym.  can't turn it around and still have the headphones plugged in using this case...

If that is your concern then I would get AppLock from market and add Home and Car Dock app to the list and the user will have to put password only when that app triggers so you can use phone like normal, also you can setup system password and they will have to enter password anytime the device is woke up.

Have you tried Dock Nothingness?

Thanks!  i did try dock nothingness, but it did not work.  My X still turned on and the pin was still disabled.
