I posted a solution to this last night as I had the same troubles.

All of the steps are done by going to Settings and then Applications and then Manage Applications.

1. I uninstalled the latest versions of Facebook and Twitter. And any other programs that were showing up even though I hadn't opened them.  Through some internet research I had found information from other websites stating there was an issue with the newest updates from Facebook that were released for Froyo. I decided that it might be a similar issue with the other rogue running apps such as Twitter and for me also the free Dictionary app.  (I used Task Killer to see what was running that I hadn't opened or selected)

2.  I went to all of the applications that I could not uninstall because they were part of the Software update and I selected Force Quit.  (Again this is done by going to settings, Applications, Manage Applicatons, and at the top you can switch through applications you have installed, ones you are using, and all of the ones on your phone)

I forced quit  Skype Mobile, News and Weather, and a couple of others.

Since then I have had not trouble at all with any of those apps running anymore.  I tested it last night and I check task manager every once in awhile since then to be sure.  If there is an app I didn't open or want open I just go to force quit and it disappears for good. (Until you choose to open it of course)

Hope this helps!  Let me know if you have any questions.

there's no fix and you can't uninstall them. they're not a big deal though...just an annoyonce. they don't drain your battery and task killers are ineffective on 2.2. you will likely use more resources constantly killing the programs than if you just let them sit idle in the background. i took the advice of google and uninstalled my task killer and sure enough, one day later, there are only 3 apps that are running that i did not start myself. i'm going to trust google now, and assume that it's fine to allow some processes to sit idle in the background. they have also had no effect on my battery life and the preloaded junk that we did not want no longer opens on my device.

so then if you don't use the task killer...  how do you check the apps and kill them?  by seeing what is running when you go into settings, applications, running ???

if you think that works, i'll uninstall my task killer too and then just check what is running every so often or when i'm trying to close out of a program.

and for the record, i have force closed skype and the other apps, and they just restart themselves,. lol

they will restart every time you kill, force close, or reboot. but they will eventually end themselves. and yes...that's how you see what's running. settings....apps.....running. but you would really do yourself a favor if you can learn to ignore it (i know it's difficult....i always want to know what's running too). try it for a day. uninstall the killer. don't force close any of them. don't reboot your phone. and see if any of them are running tomorrow. if they are, then by all means...reinstall the killer. i can tell you that there are now 2 apps that i did not start myself that are running.

Task Killers with 2.1~2.2 are pretty useless, that's because since you can use a task killer via the phone itself, a normal task killer (Say, oh, Advanced Task Manager) is just another running process your phone is useless.

So it's kind of contradictory to have one now.

i would ask you "is your device running fine?" if so then just try to ignore that fact that processes constanly run on android. if it aint broke, don't try to fix it.

Simply put, 2.2 makes task killers WORSE for your phone.  In 2.1, you could make it work a little but in 2.2 it will only harm you.

how do you close the internet app? there is no X button for it.

do u think by pressing the back arrow it will close the internet app?

my phone work fine to me, woke up yeserday at 2pm to find a new upgrade. after installing it seem like my battary life is a lot longer. But i did find unwanted apps that keep opening it yourself, with tas killer i close it down but it reopen itself.

stuff like Mail, facebook app which i cant remove, ebay app which i remove, news, people, skype, stocks, all those apps keep poping up. but it seem to not bother my battary life at all. everything seem to run fine, fast n still the same.

but it seem like chargeing time do take a bit longer to charge.
