I'm VERY anxious also, I wish verizon would at least inform us of where they are with the upgrade.

I already have it running on mine for a few weeks now. You too can do it, but it requires rooting (hacking your phone).

yeah it's great that you've rooted and are running 2.2 already, but I think it should be clear that we're not interested in going that route.

BEWARE
I have read on a couple websites that the 2.2 upgrade for verizon was cancelled because Verizon couldn't turn off the Wi-Fi hotspotting. The reason they want to turn it off, is because they cannot charge us extra for the hotspotting. The release was suppose to be sent starting the 13th... here it is the 20th and nothing. I REALLY hope Verizon has NOT taken this route and will allow us to appreciate the full potential of our phones and catapault Android past Iphone.
PLEASE VERIZON, LET US USE THIS SOFTWARE. REMEMBER, IT'S OPEN-SOURCE.... WE'LL GET THE SOFTWARE EVENTUALLY IN SOME WAY. {edit for TOS violation}
make your voices heard to verizon and maybe we can FINALLY get 2.2!

I really hope this isn't true after all we are already paying an extra premium for having the phone to begin with. It would be a shame if Verizon took this route, as already mentioned the android platform is open source which is why myself and many other choose it. Verizon knew this going into the "droid" market and has made a nice profited from it. Please don't make me regret switching over from ATT only to be deprived of what has been made readily available for my phone. Don't let greed mess up up a good thing.

Is anyone from VERIZON reading this, and paying attention? Your original DROID customers deserve to have the upgrade now!

This is mainly a peer-to-peer forum. A customer care rep might see it though.There are a few around

If AT&T and T-Mobile blocked the tethering, so can Verizon. Think rationally for a second.
