Global has the sim card for overseas use on GSM networks.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

i dont believe they sale the original droid 2's anymore but from what i hear about the global's many people wish the originals were still available. and unless you have a business/travel a lot out of country i dont see a need for the global its simply a waste of money otherwise. but these phones are all about your preference.

The original Droid 2 is no longer on the market. However, they do have the Droid R2D2 which is the Droid 2 in a fancy casing and with some Star Wars gobbalygook thrown in. It has come down in price and is now $199.99. So, if you are not interested in a SIM card, not to be confused with an SD card, you can go this route.

And the global has a higher clock speed, 1.2 vs 1.0.   This makes it a little faster but also uses up the battery quicker
