droid x upgrade promo /NE2

So, I would like to get the droid X.  I got a flyer for my early upgrade, even though my contract doesn't end until Jan 2011 and I'm not NE2 eligible until Sept.  This would be my first smart phone and honestly, the first phone I've ever paid for (I usually get whatever has the best free promotion.)

So, obviously, I'd like to get it as cheaply as possible.  This might seem like a silly question, but wouldn't it be cheaper to wait until my NE2 is available to get the $50 discount?  Based on what I can find right now, NE2 is not being applied to the Droid X promo upgrades even for people who qualify for NE2. (I could be wrong, but the actual internal droid x promo details I've read suggest that.)  Since the promo ends Aug 31, do you think  the $200 price will stay the same, or go down with the release of the Droid 2?  Anyone have any thoughts on what the cheapest route might be - order now for $200, or wait and hope that I can get it for $150 or less with my NE2 discount in Sept?

Thanks!

The $200 price tag is after the $100 mail-in or instant rebate.  Your NE2 credit will apply once you reach your NE2 date.  The Early upgrade program was only for contracts which end on or before Dec 31st 2010.  So unless they changed this you will still have to wait till September to get the $299 pricing.  Even if this has changed you will still have to wait until Sept for your NE2 credit.  And no, I do not see the Droid X dropping in price for quite some time.  No company will lower the price of a product that they can't keep on the shelf or in-stock at it's current price.

Just to give you an idea if you are trying to save money: I let my contract expire before I upgraded and with all the different credits that they were throwing my way to keep my business I got my Droid X and a phone for my wife for $50 each.

How did you get the X for $50?? My contract has been up since April, I haven't received anything from VZW about discounts on new phones. I'd like to get the X, but waiting to see if all of the problems get worked out.

I had the normal $50 upgrade, plus they sent me an additional $50 off each smartphone coupon and at the time I had an additional $50 credit on my account.  When I ordered over the phone the rep allowed me to use all 3 $50 credits/coupons at once.
