deleting widgets from dock

After Gingerbread update, my phone has a dock at the bottom of the screen and there are widgets that I did not add.  I cannot figure out how to delete widgets from the dock---can anyone help?

Long press them and you get options to change them.

I could only replace, not delete.  By long-pressing the icon, then choosing something else.
