are my contacts backed up?

I need to do a hard reset on my phone and I want to make sure that my contacts are backed up through google or whatever.  How do I check to see if this is done?  and once its done how do I import or put the contacts back on my phone?

Im sure that all of my apps are going to be gone as well once I do the hard reset.  Please help.  I looked on my SD where I thought I backed them up on to but I cant find them on there.  Is there a good app or a good way to find them to make sure that they are all backed up?

log into your gmail account and check to see if you contacts are on the contact list.

Your apps will be gone and will have to be redownloaded, BUT you will not get charged for whatever you purchased.

Log into your account on MyVerizon and see if you have them backed up there. If not, sync your device to the site and you will be set.

Also make sure any pix, music and such that may be on the phones memory is moved to the SD Card first.

You can use AppBrain Market Sync (available free in the market) to backup your apps. Install it, sync it, do your reset, then reinstall it, sign into the app (but do not, I repeat, do not hit the sync button) and hit perform installs. Or, you can install fast web installer and do it all from appbrain.com.

IF THEY ARE SAVED AS GOOGLE CONTACTS, DO A SYNC BEFORE YOUR RESET AND IT WILL DO EVERYTHING ITSELF.

Geez, what's the shouting about? People are trying to help. And no one wants to be shouted at on Sunday morning (I'm about to get enough of that at church...:smileyvery-happy:)...

Alright, in a little more detail...

Log into your gmail account on your computer and look under "Contacts". If your phone's contacts are backed up, you'll see the contacts there. If they are NOT there, then on your phone, go to "settings", "accounts" and select your Google account. Make sure that "sync contacts" is selected. Then press the "options" button, somewhere at the bottom of the Dinc's screen and when the "Sync now" option pops up at the bottom of the screen, press it and let the contacts sync. This might take a few minutes.

Now go back to the computer, log back into gmail and make sure that your contacts are there. Once you are sure they are there, then proceed with the factory reset.

Once the reset is complete, set up your google account on your phone. Select the "Sync contacts" options in the Google account, then do the "Sync now" procedure. Your contacts will load back onto your phone. Again, it might take a few minutes.

Your apps can be found and re-loaded from the "downloads" part of your market account. Yeah, you'll have to re-install them one at a time. Unless you've followed one of the above procedures for saving your apps to the SD card.

I've never tried to use nor had the need to try Back-up Assistant.

NOTE: (an emphasis, not shouting...:smileyvery-happy:) This is from the Droid/Droid X persepctive, but I've done this with an Eris and 3 flavors of Droids, so someone please make a correction to accomodate the Dinc, if need be,

Good luck, let us know how it goes.

I tried to SYNC my contacts like I was told and I cannot get them to work.  I have 4 contacts on my account and on my phone I have a lot more contacts then that.  Are there any other options that I can try?
