Does anyone know a good app that can serve as a bicycle GPS for the Droid X? I want to be able to import a gpx file of a route and have the app guide me around it, tell me when turns are coming up, etc. (It would act similar to Navigation, but on Navigation you can't import a gpx route file.)
ViewRanger doesn't cut it -- it's more of an off-road walking/hiking app.
thanks!

I just looked up information about mapmyride.
Open up the "Market" app on your Android device.
Search for "iMapMyRUN or iMapMyRIDE"
Download, install, and have a great workout!

I looked into AllSport GPS and asked them directly. Close, but not quite. Here's the reply:
>>The most you can do in AllSportGPS is to race against a trip that you will be able to import. When you are racing, you will be able to see your track vs the other track(in green) and follow it. Unfortunately we don't have the feature you are looking for.<<

Cardio Trainer is also a recording app -- it's good if you already know where you're going and want to track the training benefits, etc -- but I want something I can import a GPX file of a new route into and then it'll guide me around the route.
http://www.worksmartlabs.com/cardiotrainer/about.php
Same for iMapMyRide
http://www.appstorehq.com/imapmyride-android-260145/app
All of these record/track, but don't guide along an imported route.
Garmin charges $400 for their 705 which does this. You'd think someone would want to sell a $10-20 app with this feature.
Thanks for all your thoughts. Let me know if you think of any others.

You might want to check this blog out..... this might do what you want for no cost.
[Edited to add]
I just checked and this only works on Froyo Android devices...... so when we get the update hopefully this month, this will work for you I think

Thanks, but uploading the GPX file isn't the issue. I have that working (I send it to myself as an email attachment and Blackmoon AttachSave can detach it; something Android can't do natively since it doesn't handle all types of attachments), so Chrome-to-Phone isn't needed.
The problem is the lack of a turn-by-turn GPS app to use that file.

I had read somewhere about 2-3 weeks ago, that using Chrome to Phone, the maps would work in the Navigation. So you would customize your route using Google Maps on your desktop, then send it via Chrome to Phone to your Droid X, then it would open Navigation that would give you the directions of the route that you chose. How to open it in Navigation is something that I would have to play with when I get Froyo.
But for the life of me, I cannot find that article again this morning. If it indeed works like I read, then it would work for you. Set up the route that you wanted to take on the desktop, send it to your phone, and you would have turn by turn instructions for your ride. I should have explained it a little more in my first post, but I was in a hurry when I posted.
