Wondering if anyone has had experience with using aftermarket (not Motorola brand) batteries, plug-in battery charger, and/or car charger?
Thanks.

Haha...
I'll share a story.
So the wife and I were coming home from Disney Land/World (from Florida), I had left my charger in my luggage!!!
And I needed to upload some pictures. So I bought a 3rd party charger for $20 at a Kiosk at the airport.
The port fit, but it felt cheap. I plugged it in, it started charging. Awesome. Tried to use my phone, it started going haywire. Everytime I clicked a button or touched my screen it would go the strangest places. I think I accidentally turned wifi on a few times by pressing the HOME button.
When I got home I went to look for pictures I took on the way home.
Corrupted. They were fine after I took them, I was showing them to the wife. After I used the charger, the pictures were corrupt, unable to be opened. I tried multiple recovery programs with no success.
Don't buy them. You will probably save $10 if you do, but headaches will follow.

When I first got my Droid X, I used the micro USB wall charger I used with my BB Storm. Within a few days, the phone started re-booting randomly numerous times a day. On the Motorola site, I did find some indication that not using a Motorola branded charger could cause some problems...including restarts. Whether or not that was causing my problems, I went ahead and ordered a Motorola wall charger and car charger. My advice...stick with Motorola chargers only.

I've had good luck with a couple of aftermarket car chargers, but I stick with Moto chargers anyway (I like that Moto charger with the cool M logo that glows blue when plugged in...)
But I will absolutely use nothing but Moto home chargers. My daughter showed me her Moto original Droid freaking out one day and she was trying to use an aftermarket home charger. I loaned her mine and all problems went away.
I saved a bunch o' money on chargers by shopping on Ebay for chargers. I've gotten the $30.00 home charger for 11.95 before (bought 4 of them at that price). Just type in "Droid X home chargers and you'll find nearly hundreds of listing (check for new chargers and check the seller's reputations, I haven't gone wrong yet).

One big problem with using an aftermarket charger or battery, you void your warrenty. You may save a few bucks, but if something goes wrong with your phone, Verizon does not have to honor the warrenty, and your stuck. My suggestion, stick with the chargers and batteries meant for the Droid X.

Like Gerio, I also really like the MOTO Car Charger ... The Verizon one they sell in the store (or online) really has horrible interference in the AM Radio (if you listen to AM, like I do). And the MOTO one (at Amazon) is like 1/3 the price vs. the Verizon one. Oh, and yes, the cool BLUE light..

lol!
I always wondered why my radio sounded like a high to low pitched whistle, like in the cartoons when things fall from the sky...

It seems that version 2.2 of the droid software "locked out" 3rd party batteries. The battery is good, but the display reads "?" and it WILL NOT charge the battery.
What Gives?

Motorola has stated from the release of the device that aftermarket/non-OEM batteries are not supported by their devices.

I think it's a good practice to have your OEM charger with you as much as you can. an you know i would pay alittle more if they'ed
pute a OEM car charger in the Box with the home charger i hate it when a Rep. ask do you Need a Car charger i can throw one in
for a good price.! an you it's not a OEM Product it's some other weired looking charger with a verizon sticker on it an there are no
OEM's on the Wall to be found unless you want a Bundle Pack but you are going to pay more for it. Now if you dont want a bundle
pack or a Hum Dinger of a Verizon Car charger an you have a U.S.Cellular Store Close by they sell Oem car chargers for Moto i'm
not sure on other Devices Like HTC but they at the time i got mine had the OEM moto Car chargers . Or if Orderin Online from your
home is your thing There are several sites that have them an will send one your way.
