Has anyone experienced wifi issues after the last GB update? My DX wifi worked perfectly until 4.5.602. Now I am lucky if it connects to my home router if I am sitting right in front of it. I have read of changing to WEP etc etc but I cant very well ask starbucks to change their settings. I have also experienced a lot of lag, bugs etc on this update. Thanks for any suggestions!

Hi, as an update to this issue, I called customer care and spoke with a very helpful person. After the obligatory factory reset stuff done over the phone, he sent me a replacement DX. So far, so good. Thanks for the assistance everyone.

@harry i would say grap another expresso an give your X a present it has had an FR more specifically a Factory Reset if you have had your X for a while an havent done a Fr i would do it. Take a look on here for instructions if you want to do this on your own or you'd wrather have assistance call Verizon option 3 an get with an Android Teck Specialist an have then take you thru the Fr an you'll need another Cell or a landline when doing the Fr you can take it to a Corp store an they can do a Fr there as well. Good luck. B33
My X might be a year Old.. but it's as good as Gold

i'm forever amazed at how many things come up that the factory reset is the 1st offering.
a factory reset is a pita to have to reload everything when something short of the fr may resolve the issue.
fwiw:
i have a linksys wrt54g router & the dx connects fine with wep but won't connect with wpa.
cody21 has the same router, with different firmware & he can connect using wpa encryption.
harry:
who's to say that starbucks is using any encryption, it's public & a freebie now, i think.
i had no issues with gb or 602.

Thanks for the information. Let me ask you this: has anyone's problems been fixed by a factory reset? Seems like it isnt all that effective. Just weighing the pros & cons...Thanks

I would delete the WiFi network settings and set it up again.
I have both linksys and netgear wireless routers, both G and N, all on WPA security, and no problems with connecting to any of them. After I upgraded to Gingerbread, I had to do a factory reset because some things were not quite right, but not for WiFi connecting problems.
To delete the WiFi network settings:
- Go to settings
- Press Wireless & network settings.
- Turn on WiFi if it is not already turned on
- Press WiFi settings
- Press Manage Networks (you might have to scroll down to find it)
- Long Press the network you want to delete the settings. (To delete ALL network settngs, press Manage Networks Options)
- Menu comes up... Press Forget network
- Go back and set up the network again.
Let us know if you try this and if it helps or not

I am having the exact same problem. Wifi working fine before update doesn't work after. Same router, so i don't think it has anything to do with that.
did factory reset of phone
rebooted router
phone connects (gets IP address, etc.), but can't get to internet or download data. 4 other devices are able to connect to router with no problem.
Droid X with GB update.

WEP is a broken security standard. Forcing users into using it should be illegal.

yo sport, i've been using wep for years for banking, internet purchases, ad nauseum....., probably before you were using computers, without any security issues.
btw:
i'm the one who posted in other threads that my dx won't work with wpa but with wep encryption.

can you connect at starbucks?
