WiFi fails after 2.2 update

After 2.2 update

Wifi analyzer Sees my Router as Strong Signal

If I actuate WiFi, it connects to my Router/SSiD

WiFi Icon is on the Top Bar

When I open the Browser to go to a web page, the WiFi Icon disappears and The Screen shows Web Page Unabailable.

Then the Wifi Icon comes back but the web page is still unabailable

If I try to navibate to another Web Page, the Wifi icon again disappears etc etc

When I leave WiFi off, the browser opens web pages nicely and I can watch News casts with some pauses for buffering.

Pre 2.2  I could not watch the News casts but the wifi would bring up web pages rapidly.

Any Assistance will be appreciated.

Try cycling your router, you could also check that your encryption or security level is not hurting your attempts.  For testing purposes only, place your router in open or no security mode.  Once you connect check your router status screen and make sure you did indeed pull a valid IP address.  If you still have trouble, try changing the broadcast channel of your Router.

If any of those steps solved your problem, look into trouble shooting steps for your exact wireless router on the internet and check for updated drivers.  Unfortunately, not all wireless routers are created equal.  Some have trouble holding a connection even if you are a few feet away from it.

I have 2 Dxs. Wifi with this router worked under 2.1

After upgrade to 2.2 both phones wifi cycless on and off.

Turned off Encryption and Re-entered encryption parameters

Went to Settings/wifi/wifi settings and I can see the ssid alternat between "Connected" and "Obtaining an IP address" every few seconds.

If I have WiFi enabled, I can see the WiFi icon up in the notification bar appearing and disappearing.

If I disable WiFi, I can browse the Internet great.

So I am not out of business, but I can not use WiFi to enhance /Speed up the process.

New Netgear WNDR3700 router.

Power Cycled the Router

Factory Reset the DX per Directions Posted here on this board,

Set up a Guest Account with No Encryption on the Router.

Went into WiFi settings and attached to the Guest account

Still in WiFi Settings, watching the SSID cycle between "Connected" and "Obtaining an IP address from Guest Account"

Any Thoughts or assistance will be appreciated.

You won't be able to receive calls in airplane mode.

I agree, but once you fix wifi by goint into Airplane and then executing wifi and then coming out of airplane, the Wifi functionsseems to work from then on. Going into Airplane and then into wifi and then out of Airplane seems to clear or repair something so that Wifi starts working properly.

I also have the WNDR3700 router.  And had the same DroidX WiFi connect/disconnect issues.

I did not try the Airplane fix but I was able to correct my unstable WiFi Connection by going into the 3700's setup and disabling (unchecking) UMM for both the 2.4ghz and 5ghz bands.

You will find UMM under QoS Setup within the router's setup.

I have tested both encryption (AES) and Open Security and the WiFi Connection remains connected.

My DroidX did not seem to be happy with UMM enabled.

If anyone corrects their unstable WiFi Connection by disabling UMM on any router, please share your results.  Thanks!

I am sorry...I made an error in my post of saying UMM.

It is WMM WiFi Multimedia and is located under QoS Setup.

I work in a building with 10 Cisco 1200 Aps open for the public.

When I turn on Wifi on my DX it says Connected, Connecting, Connected, Connecting, Connected, Connectiong, and on and on.

My home router Netgear FVG318 http://netgear.com/products/business/VPN-firewalls-appliances/wireless-VPN-firewalls/FVG318.aspx with WEP turned on connects fine.

There is something jacked up in the DX's WiFi.

It definately doesnt play nice with Open WiFi.
