Not true. The junk is put in there by HTC because Verizon makes them in order to allow the device on their network.

Agreed it is Verizon request the apps to be included.
I think all these apps need to be optional so you can choose to add or remove what is installed. Other bloat ware like City ID and stuff like that should have the option to uninstall.

I wonder why someone can't make an app to uninstall the preloaded apps? maybe it's not even possible though.

You guys need to realize its all a partnership. Google has partners with lots of people/companies, verizon does, etc. They all have to put stuff on their stuff and vice versa to keep the partnerships and in thus helping each other out, advertising, etc.
There's really no product anymore that doesn't come with something else in it try and sell you more stuff. It's all a form of advertising. Just get use to it guys. I'd like to remove the stuff too but, yeah... can't.

I don't pay VZ every month for them to tell me what 3rd party apps to run on my phone. 3rd party apps are a revenue stream for VZ, so VZ is making money off me (and you) on top of the existing $$ we already give them. This isn't about the free-to-use apps, this is about VZ force running apps that want additional $$ from me (on top of what I already pay VZ).
For you it is, Verizon isn't some dictator of applications. Google has the largest part to deal with it. Google and the Manufacturer, assuming you have a specific UI on your phone (SENSE/MotoBLUR).
