That model was made for the Iphone so I am going to imagine it is not compatible.
I know of some wired that have play/pause button on them, however if you are looking for play, pause, vol and call answer you might be better served with a bluetooth headphone.
http://www.motorola.com/staticfiles/Consumers/global/flash_content/microsites/s9hd/index.html This one runs about $50 at places like Amazon.

I already have a bluetooth headset. The problem is when I am in our data center floor I get too much interference over bluetooth and it becomes basically unsuable. The reason why I am looking for a wired stereo headset.

You can try checkingout the V-moda Vibe duo, or take a look at this list of headsets that have all been tested with the DX. I don't think you will find one that covers all the features you want though, might have to compromise on one of them.

I've been through many headsets with the Droid X trying to find the best sound and an in line microphone to take calls. On the low end, the JBuds J3M are very reasonable and sound good. On the high end, the Ultimate Ears Triplefi 10vi sound fantastic. Both are perfectly compatable for the Droid X including call capability even though the 10vi are sold for compatability with the iPhone. Don't buy anything that has three button functionality such as the Klipsch S4i. You will be able to hear audio but no call capability with these.

slick link.
in all my time with verizon/gte, i remember most phones, including the voyager, which was replaced by the dx, needed 2.5mm connectors.
a nice surprise that the dx takes a 3.5.
thanks

The Klipsch ProMedia earphones are excellent as a low cost alternative and they have the same specs/hardware as the S4A for Android, S4, and S4i for iPhone. The mic and switch work great.
For high end earphones, I'm really happy with the Ultimate Ears Triple Fi 10VI. They are branded for the iPhone but work perfect on Android. Again, mic and switch work perfect on these.
Just make sure you stay away from anything that has a three button switch. These are definitely a problem on Android and have a chip specific to iPhonies.
