I plugged ear buds into the phone and now get excellent volume for directions from navigation. I also listened to Pandora while navigating and the navigation instructions broke in when required. I now use the ear buds during phone calls giving great sound and hands free operation.
I still don't have any contacts on my Back up Assistant site even though doing numerous "soft" resets. The program seems to work, but the status never changes under "running applications". I have been advised by VZW tech support to do a "hard" reset. Will I lose all customization such as contacts, email accounts and downloaded aps when I do that?

Hard reset will bring the X back to the point of when it came out of the box from the factory. Everything you have done, downloaded etc will be erased, but according to different sources, the SD card will not be erased.
On Mybackup site on My Verizion, there is a feature that will show you your pin number to make sure that you put it in correctly on the phone. Just wondering if you checked that or now.
Also you can initiate a sync from My Backup. Have you tried doing that too?
