Well at least the good news is that the update is running well so far for most users (I haven't heard anything negative so far). Im just confused because I thought verizon pushed the updates, and according to the droid x software update link on verizons website, they are prepared for the new update. Its hard to believe Motorola or even Verizon could really mess up this bad.. I guess we are all human after all

No, I am not part of the Moto test group. I was just lucky enough to get it by mistake by pulling.

There were some reported problems from some people who got the update. some people had a problem with the download being interupted. some had a problem with 3G after the update. some had a problem with Madden NFL taking to long to get the Add ons needed to run it (thats a whole other topic).

Now as some people noted this was supposed to be pushed to a few select people to test and give feed back before it was sent out to all (smart move on Moto). But, for some reson it was sent out to others as well (bad move/ mistake on Moto). But, a very small percentage of people did report problems. So Moto pulled it for the X before more ran into problems (smart move Moto). Hopefully they will get these problems figured out real soon and send the release back out.

Oh, and to let you know I have not had any problems since the update.

How did Verizon or Motorola mess up?

when an update is put on the update servers, they do not immediately push to all phones. The phones will find out, but most of the time, people hear of the update, and manually check for the update.

To answer your question, no I am not a part of the Motorola Feedback Network. For the question of if this update was only suppose to go out to the network only, that is not the case. The update website announced that the update was going to be out there a day or two ago. If this was suppose to go to that network only, the update wibsite would not say anything about it.

How sure are you about your information? Because I got the 2.3.340 update notification two different times this morning, and I had no choice but to click "install later" because I needed to make a phone call at both of the times the update notification was on my phone.  Around lunch time, I decided to get the update rolling by manually pulling it, but it wouldn't ever come through... Since the update has already been sent to my phone, shouldn't I be able to pull it?  I'm not the one that came up with the idea that the update was supposed to go to a select few testers...

I pulled the update about 1am.  Now I wish I hadn't.  I am one of the few that got a screwed up update.  Madden is on it, but it freezes.  And now every time I plug in my charger, my phone freaks.  The screen doesn't respond properly to touch actions, and freezes in between screens, so I have a half and half screen.  Everything appeared to install fine, but now all these problems.  I just want to go back, but I think I am stuck even if a corrected update is pushed out eventually.  Boo {word filter avoidance} Hoo.

I am sure of the information because this is the third update for the Droid X that I have gone through and it has been always the same. The page was updated, and within 3 days, the update was available, with Froyo taking the longest (3 days) and this one taking 2 days since the update of the website)

Yes I agree that you should be able to download it once you get the notification, but if the update server is unavailable, then you would not be able to download it. If Verizon has pulled the update from the servers, it has not announced it. Information from any other source is hearsay at best, and should be taken with a huge grain of salt. :smileyvery-happy:

If Verizon is sending it out to testers only, why would they update the website?

I Too Did the update I Got my notice  around 3 or 4 am I didnt have the phone on Batt Save Mode Nor Did I do it over 3G I Had the phone on the charger an I did mine thrue my Wi-Fi so that speeded up its loading Time it seemed that it loaded smoothly with no glitches. I would of done it Thru 3g But earlier that evening the 3g was having problems In our area so I ditched that Idea an used the wi-fi instead i don't Know if that helped or not and i didnt get a notice about sending out a test update to check for glitches if this is the case they need to tell us Dx users how to unistall this update an let us go Back  to were we was at or fix this Darn thing so it doesnt Mess the X up any Further or send out another patch to correct this One. After the Patch update it Didnt seem to Bad althow When I tried to open Madden Football it Froze up untill i did a Batt Pull other than that it hasn't  Done any thing stooped that it hasnt done Before. But what still Gets me frustrated and i no u all as well. Is why didnt Moto just pull this thing and save allot of us the hassle yes i know its nice to Get updates but  dont go an pull a ringer on us untill ur sure its going to work. Or let us Know Like I said before if we need to unistall this update untill it gets fixed. If there is a Verizon Employee that has some insight on this Let us All Know What U think Should Be Done.!    As I'm Keeping What I Got as I dont Know if Would Mess up the Phone Even More If I Change it. Let's all hope What Ever is Done its Done Right and Fixes the Problems. :smileyhappy:

I did a manual pull through this morning. I am in South Carolina and I am not a part of any group. My phone seems to be slower than before. Also when I plug my phone in to charge it the light comes on and before it didn't. Which of course that is not a big issue. I am just trying to keep an eye on all the changes on my phone since the update.
