Sending / Receiving Emails

I purchased the Droid X two weeks ago.  Since that time, I have had two instances where emails are from my personal account (Comcast.net) and (Corporate) are not being received.  On one occassion, I went to a VZN Store location to have the phone looked at, some configurations were made and the emails started arriving.  The second instance, I made a call to Motorola Customer Support and they indicated that I was not in a 3 G spot.  When I completed the call, I could clearly see 3G on my phone.  I again went to a VZN location where configurations were checked, calls made and still no clear resolution or diagnosis of the issue.  I have been given several workaround:  They include:

Download Email Pusher Apps - K-9 - Lookout -

Forward my Personal Email to GMail - This is to have everything go through GMail

Change incoming and outgoing Ports

Talk with Corporate IT Dept.

I like the functionality of the Droid X, but so far it has been a great TOY for my daughter to play with.  I recently converted from Blackberry where email receiving and transmitting was never an issue.

Any help from the community would greatly appreciated.

I may be wrong, but If you are referring to 3G and phoning function, you have a misconception. Telephoning has nothing to do with 3G/4G. These only come to play in up/downloading things, such as apps. It refers to the speed in which you can send and/or receive data. Nothing to do with your phone itself.

Okay, if you are refering to Email only, first do the obvious. go into Messaging>your provider. Tap on the menu key>Email settings>Email delivery. Is Data Push selected or the Fetch schedule. If its Fetch schedule, is manually selected or one of the times? If its manually, then you must fetch your email. If it's one of the times, then you will receive any new mail at those given times. Data push gets Email whenever a new one comes in; however, that mode eats up the battery since it is alway on and looking for new Email. As for the port numbers, I would check those out as well.

Incoming:

mail comcast.net    110   no    no

Outgoing

smtp.comcast.net   587   no    no

As for your corporate Email, check with you tech on what the correct addresses are for incoming and outgoing.
