Screen timeout / Lock issue

Is there a setting with the Droid Charge to turn off the screen before locking the phone? Other phones have a timeout or sleep setting independent of the lock timing. With the Charge, this seems to be missing... Without this your phone always lock and you literally have to enter your PIN or Pattern every time your screen turns off...

Hello sb4663,

The screen timeout feature is a neat function.  The Samsung Droid Charge does have a setting for the screen to timeout.  You can interact with a simulator video to complete this by clicking here  (Click on the blinking highlighted area on the device to go to the next step)  Please test and advise me if this was helpful.  Thank you.

Thanks, but i guess I need to clarify... The instructions above sets the timeout and automatically locks the phone once that time is reached. Other phones differentiate between the 2. I'm guessing there is no way to have this phone timeout without locking altogether. With my previous phone I could have the screen timeout at 15 seconds and lock at 2 minutes. So at anytime < 2 minutes but > 15 seconds, I could touch my phone to turn the screen on  to use  without having to enter a password. Anytime after 2 mins the phone would be completely locked. It may seem a like a small difference but this was a very useful configuration. Let me know if I can replicate this activity or if there is a setting I've over-looked with the Droid Charge.

Thanks,

Hello sb4663,

Sorry about the misunderstanding.  There is not a separate lock time and screen timeout.  The feature provided above is the only option for the display timeout at this time.  Thank you.

Here is what I do.  It's not exactly what you want but may be as close as you can get with the Charge phone.

I set the timeout for 1 minute.  Then at about the 1 minute mark my screen dims just a little bit.  When I notice it dim I immediately touch the screen anywhere where it is BLANK so I do not start some other action.  By doing this the screen again goes to full brightness and I can continue for another minute or close what I'm doing and move on to my next task.

I hope this helps fix your problem.

Thanks Jerry, This is indeed the closest solution I've seen.
