SD Card Problem

My droid 2 came with a 16gb Sandisk micro SD card HC, class 4. Whenever i plug it into the phone it says unavailable or unmounted.. I took the card out and put it back in and still did not work. I tried a few other micro sd cards and none of them seemed to pop up on the phone. I reformatted the sd card twice and reset the phone. Still nothing. I called verizon and they did all the stuff they could help with but stuff i had already done. Whenever i plug the phone in the computer the sd card does not pop up. If i put the card itself in a micro sd card reader and put the card in that way and the computer read it just fine. I am not able to listen to music or able to take pictures at the moment. Any suggestions?

If you mean that you can not use the SD card in the Droid when hooked onto your computer, that is normal. Once you connect your phone to your computer, the computer sees the card as another drive and it becomes unavailable on the phone. Next time you connect the two, click on the computer icon on your computer and you will see a new letter. That new letter is your SD card.

You cant see the SD card when its not plugged into the computer. Or when it is just the phone by itself.

I think you have done all the diagnostics needed, basically you need a new phone.   If the card can  be read in a card reader, but the phone cannot mount it or any other SD card, that functionality of the phone is broken.

If the phone can read it, but you cannot see it in the computer when you connect by USB, there are other steps to check (e.g. check that USB mode is set to USB Mass Storage) but since the phone cannot see any card at all, get Verizon to replace the phone.

Okay, if you can not read the SD card when it is not plugged into a computer, but can read it when you remjove it from the phone (hope you unmounted it first) and read it in the computer's card reader, then it does sound as though you have a faulty phone. I would take it to my Verizon store for an exchange.

Thank you all for the replies. I agree that if you are not able to use the SD card on the phone, but are able to use it on the computer using an SD Card Reader, then the issue is with your device and you need a replacement.

If you have not received a replacement device, please PM us your account information and contact number for additional assistance.

Thank you,
